If you look they appear to be on all the stations. The "yeoman podium" and the station to checkov's right have them as well.
I wanna know why there is a roll of Duct Tape between those objects, maybe something won't be installed until Tuesday!
In the reverse angle you can see that the objects are almost out of arm's reach for the officers seated at the station. So it's unlikely that they're controls to be utilized by the occupants of the seats, whatever they are.
Exactly my thoughts, I certainly think they're in a dumb place if they're 'joysticks'. I think they're repainted barcode scanners, we had that exact model where I used to work. What function they serve in universe is a different matter. They all seem to have red lights on, so maybe they're a really odd version of that flashing red crystal that used to be on the helm in TOS?
