Unless I've missed my guess, the last Opus strip ran this past Sunday. :(

Opus, you will be missed.

WHAT???? Opus is done? What.. Berke drags out the Bloom County gang for a year or so and then just ends it?

Goddamn that pisses me off.. He should never have left Albuquerque...

If you are surprised Opus is done, then you haven't been reading it, and really shoudln't be upset that it's done. :p

*sigh*

I still have the final Sunday strip from the Az Republic newspaper for Bloom County. I never keep anything like that. I agree with RJDiogenes. Time for a dandelion break.

We just watched "A Wish For Wings That Work" with Opus and Bill The Cat in it....my 4 year old loves it. A shame Opus won't be joining us on the road ahead.

No worries. "Family Circus" goes on and on (and on and on and on . . . )

Oh, and "Garfield". And don't forget fucking "Cathy".

Goes off to have a bit of a cry.

No shit.

How do such terrible comics like those continue to live on but the greats like Opus, Foxtrot and Clavin and Hobbes die?

Calvin and Hobbes will NEVER die. They live in my heart forever. That is my all time favorite comic strip. I must admit I regard "Peanuts" as a greater accomplishment (and a close second to C & H in my heart). Peanuts was a classic and remained great for nearly 50 years. Calvin, sadly, was around only a decade or so. Though I personally enjoyed Calvin and Hobbes more, we will never know if it would have stood up to the task for a generation the way Charlie Brown and the gang did.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall, listening in during a converstation between Hobbes and Snoopy. What a joy that would have been.

Dscussing this in another thread a few weeks ago, I brought up this was liek hte third time it's left. Someone said this time it's because he's in bad health. PErhaps he knew this and wanted the strip back so he can have a little more fun and properly say good-bye before he should pass suddenly.
