Finished Bablyon 5 for the first time (spoilers)

Garibaldi's story in Messages from Earth was a nice nod to the events of the comic. I wasn't particularly irked that Sinclair wasn't namechecked there.
Actually this is first alluded to in season 1's "Infection" when Garibaldi talks to the reporter about how he and Sinclair's shuttle went down and they had to walk back to civilization. IIRC, this is when they first met. I liked how Sinclair wasn't name dropped in the season 3 episode for the sake of name dropping.

That is when they first met. What actually happened between Sinclair and Garibaldi on Mars is in comics #5 - #8, and the comic is actually the first mention of the Psi Corps badge being found that Garibaldi brings out in the "Messages from Earth" episode, and that's the reference to the comic. (The comic was published during season 2). It wouldn't be for the sake of name dropping; it was established as part of that comic that Garibaldi found the psi corps badge on Mars when Sinclair & he were there, and that's the event Garibaldi is alluding to in the episode. (I can see the point about Garibaldi not mentioning Sinclair in front of the IPX employee though).

Indeed. At the time though it was so unusual for something from another medium providing such a pivotal plot point. Can't really remember that ever happening with Star Trek. Another good example of the smarts that Joe had around the merchandising of the show, including the novels and comics. His level of input to both, particularly from a narrative pov, makes it much easier to consider some of them at least as canonical.

Whenever I go back and rewatch B5, I always include both the comics and the canonical novels. It makes for an even more complete view of the B5 universe.
