So Nolan is out and Singletary is in in San Francisco??

I didn't think Nolan had sunk that far.

He sunk that far, and further in my opinion. He was awful as coach and I am glad he's gone. Hopefully Singletary does well, but until JTO is gone too and they get a good offensive line, this team ain't going anywhere.

Well, unless Denver learns how to hold onto the ball (5 turn overs this game, 15 on the season), and they cut down on moronic penalties (8 penalties tonight alone, averaging 11 yards a penalty), I'm ready to write this season off. Denver may be on top of the AFC West now, but unless they get their acts together, they're done.

But you still have to give a coach a chance. Problems? Yes, but when a coach is starting from a team that's rebuilding, you should give him some time to implement his own plan.

On the other hand, I look at a coach like Brad Childress (Vikes), and I wonder why he still has a job. For better or worse, this was the team he put together. Does he have some blackmail insurance that we don't know about? It's one thing to struggle with a team that wasn't expected to do much- it's another to struggle with a team that was expected to still be in the running in January.

MNF: Didn't see that coming. I expected a high scoring game, but I thought Denver would have been on the high end of that. New England looked like they were in prime form- if they continue to play at that level, they'll be a force to reckon with even without Brady or Maroney.

Kind of reminds me of the seats we had last year when we went down to see the Packers play at K.C. They shot off fireworks before the game- we had to look down to see them! But even in the nosebleed seats, it's always great to see a game live.

Glad to the Packer's defense finally have a good game. They lost a lot of players to injuries, so maybe they're finally starting to gel as a unit. And for once they didn't kill themselves with penalties- Indy did that instead.

If anyone would have told me before the game that Chicago and Minnesota would score a combined 89 points, I would've asked them what they were smoking. So much for the defensive battle they were predicting.

Wow, now that's a bit of a ways up there! Yeah, it was great just being there for my first live professional football game ever. Now I see why it's so much fun. Too bad I was practically in terror the whole time I was up there!

Worst seats I've ever had, 500 level. Not the highest in the stadium, there were 5 or so rows above us, but man it took forever to get up there.

Oh my god. I would have been absolutely stone petrified.
At least your seats don't slant so badly. The rows in Paul Brown Stadium actually lean forward a bit, so I felt like I was falling toward the field. Next time I'm getting a seat on the bottom level. I don't care HOW much it costs.

You know what sucks, is that our tickets were $64 a piece, to sit in the top row of the nosebleeds for a subpar football team (the Bengals). $64!

J - sounds like you had fun. The location of those seats is about where my parents had season tickets in the old Mile High Stadium. Great location in the corner.

Here's where their new seats are: (December 06)

and a couple of offerings from the Rocky Mountain News re: the Broncos "defense"

If he were in Cincinnati, he'd be like Tom Hanks at FAO Schwartz there'd be so much material to play with.

To be fair, all the ref did was extend the drive... the Chargers still had 3rd down, 4th down, and the 2 point conversion to win the game. :p

Well, to be fairerer, the Chargers shouldn't have let themselves be in a position where the entire game rode on a single bad call by a ref. :p :p :p

The Broncos have proven to be turnover happy. They were playing according to type before the fact, and the team that should have benefited initially instead got boned.

This idea that teams shouldn't put themselves in a position to win if the officials are merely competent is an amusing but ultimately specious one. You can't simply decide to win 58-0.

Sorry, I gotta agree with JM (My God, did I just say that?).

;)

That San Diego game was an abomination.

I understand that once the whistle was blown, there was nothing they could do. I get that.

But anyone who watched that game knows what really happened. San Diego was robbed.

The Giants have hit the tough part of their schedule now. Steelers, Cowboys, Eagles, Ravens, Cardinals, Redskins, Eagles again, Cowboys again and the Panthers. After last week's sloppy game against San Francisco, I'm not optimistic.

I will not be watching the Lions this week because the game will be blacked out in my area. The team sucks, so no one shows up at the game, which means no one will watch at all now. Unless you live in DC, you won't be seeing Detroit this week. You all should be happy.

It's ever the downward spiral for that franchise it seems.

Competent ownership might help.

Only the Bidwills have been more consistently inept.
