Best Series Ending Scene...

Having been a Trekker since TOS, my vote for the best ending scene on any Trek series has to go to....TNG. Capt Pickard finally gets into a Poker game with all the other Senior Staff Officers and the round poker table morphs into the Enterprise uppersection into a slow rotation, totally cool...

I agree. And I really love the final scene with Jake and Kira and how the camera pulls back.

A tie between TNG and DS9 for me.

I think the competition is a bit tougher if you count the last scene of TUC as the end for the TOS crew... "Second star to the right, and straight on til morning..."

That was pretty cool, I agree. I thought TUC was a great ending for the TOS crew anyway.

As for the TNG poker scene: I think it's great as well. But DS9's just has that bit more power for me.

I agree that it's a toss-up between TNG and DS9. I actually might give a slight edge to TNG's final scene.

TUC is hands down the best good-bye scene. It is the TOS series end to me, since we never got one on the TOS series. But, TNG comes in second for me.

If you look at just the scene without the context, it's a tie between DS9 and TNG. The final scene of TNG was really more of a transition from TV to the movies, while DS9's finale was the end of the story. In that light, DS9 gets the edge. It was a true closure to the story, while TNG's finale didn't end the on-screen adventures of the crew.

"Five card stud, nothing wild... and the sky's the limit"

Speaking literally as a final scene, I think you have to give it to TNG as it is a singular scene that works very well. While the end of What You Leave Behind is indeed very well done, it's not really a unified scene. You have the thing with Quark and Kira, Quark's final line to Morn and then that awesome pull-back with Jake.

I think all five series have really strong ending moments. If I had to rank them, it might go like this:

1. DS9 pullback
2. TNG poker scene
3. ENT monologue montage
4. VOY setting a course for home
5. TOS signatures

All the other series ending on a positive note, but DS9's understated final scene had a real sense of heartbreak and loss that makes it my favorite. With all the characters saying goodbye and moving on, the focus was on Jake, who was just waiting for his dad.

Really close between TNG, DS9, and The Undiscovered Country, which had a real ending that the series never had the chance to have.

DS9, watching Kira and Jake look outside and panning further away from Deep Space Nine was just emotional, and I don't usually become emotional. :vulcan:

Regarding your third pick, I would agree. of course the episode itself would be dead last.
