XBOX360 - Overheating still a problem?

^You don't get the cable in the packaging with the drive ? :wtf:

If you buy a standalone 120gb drive, yes you get the cable in the packaging. I think they provide the transfer kit for people who buy new consoles, etc.

Why would you?
Do you get free cables when you buy any HD?

This is a little bit different. Also, I think you and Hermiod are talking at crossed purposes.

yeah maybe so.

Apologies as this is somewhat off topic:

does anybody have any updates as to when we're getting the "New Xbox Experience" update? I want to watch Netflix movies on my TV. :(

20gb HD at Target for $24.99
Price match that with Circuit City and use their 10% off card and you're paying a less than $20.00

The update is going to be November though we will get minor updates till then to ready all 360's for the change (we had one several weeks ago).

I sent it to be repaired a week ago Monday and by Friday Microsoft had already shipped it back to me. UPS says to expect it by this Friday, but I'm hoping it's sooner. It'll be interesting to see if I get my unit back or a refurbished one.

When that happened to me, I got a refurbished one.

That's what I'm thinking, especially after the quick turn-around. I figure they have a supply of refurbished units and ship them as soon as the broken ones arrive.

The Xbox arrived from the repair center today. I checked the serial number and, much to my surprise, it's my Xbox! And it works! :D

^
Fingers crossed it'll continue to do so! :)

The price cuts have come through in the UK: 220 £ (about 280 € or 400 $) for an Elite. Not bad, not bad at all.

I had read in a couple of places that they were giving people their original box back with all new "innards" but I wasn't sure if it was true or not.

If you think about it, getting a RROD is not actually too bad a thing, You're basically getting a free upgrade with very little inconvenience.

Question. Did you get the HDMI upgrade as well?

Well off tho play Star Wars. :D

Well, unless you get it after the end of November, when the three year warrantees start running out. My roommate has a first-edition 360, and it only just RRoD'd a couple days ago. If it waited another couple months before finally crapping out, he would've been SOL.

I just did a brief internet search but didn't find out any information on whether or not Jasper has already hit the shelves.

Did anybody else see any up-to-date reports on this?

^ Not yet. I'm sure there'll be posts about in the usual places.

Overheating: still a threat. (Someone out there will get that.)

Giantbomb.com: still a threat!

It'll take one of these nerd sites to go out and grab a 360 and open it up before we know for sure. Then it'll take several brave souls who are willing to void their warranties to do the same to get a general sense of the lot number/etc.

That's good spin, Microsoft should use that in a advertising campaign.

It may be your old one but they make the new unit match your old serial number if it's not. They need to do this for the security locking your XBox Live content.

Yeah, they recently implemented the DRM switching tool to facilitate the transfer of DLC quickly - which is perfect because they don't support license transfers for people who got replacement Xboxes outside of Microsoft until now.

Well i caved in and bought another 360, not a new one you understand as there is no way i am giving MS any more of my hard earned cash for a console that may or may not go belly up at some stage within the next year, but i got a 6 month old one from eBay for £130 with 9 games....

I must be mad.
