NCAA Football 2008 Discussion - It All Starts Here.

Seeing you post mimic has reminded me of something I read on FoxSports. When JoePa passes Bobby Bowden for the all-time coaching wins this season, all of those wins will have come from one school - Penn St. One day some guy may pass that total figure (Pete Carroll? Urban Meyer? Jim Tressel?), but with the way coaches are hried and fired with such frequency these days, nobody will match JoePa's # of victories at the same school. At least not in Div 1.

South Carolina got on all three polls. And Clemsux dropped off the AP. Sweet!

Oregon moved up in the polls. Still, I have to wonder who's stupid idea it was to open the PAC-10 season with conference games.

I'm making a bold prediction. After week 4, Cal will be in the top 25 in the polls. They are number 27 on the AP poll, but no one talks about that. ;)

ESPN had a SportsNation poll about the most anticipated game this weekend, and included Oregon State at Penn State as one of the five options. While it's true that I, as a Penn State student, am most looking forward to that game, I couldn't help but go :cardie: when I saw that.

Ehhhh, I hate them too, but they're still SEC.

No, I'm a Georgia fan. We LOATHE Tennessee. Georgia Tech as a rival is a joke.

And your opinions on Florida and South Carolina as rivals?

I like to see Georgia beat Florida (when it rarely happens), but I actually cheered for them when they won the national championship that they deserved. I've never really payed much attention to South Carolina, but it's obvious they are going to be major contenders as long as Spurrier is around. I think UGA has their plate full this year again.

Maybe there's just a lot of boring games, so they couldn't think of anything better.

A small amount of marijuana was found in some Penn State football players' apartment. Great. Not much info yet, and it doesn't necessary belong to the football players, but I thought this kind of idiocy was over. :klingon:

Looking at the schedule so far..... yeah, nothing's jumping out at me. The best to me are:
- Ga. Tech @ Boston College
- S. Carolina @ Vanderbilt
- Cincinnati @ Oklahoma
- U of Miami @ Florida
- Stanford @Arizona St

No real marquee match-ups, though

Who would have thought Stanford would be mentioned as a "good" game on this board. I'm shocked.

;)

Cal plays Washington St. Might not be a good game, but it is a conference game and those are always important.

Well, considering that Spurrier's pretty pissed about what Vandy did to USC last year, it's sure to be an interesting game.
