NCAA Football 2008 Discussion - It All Starts Here.

Aw, geezzzzz! MY heart is in the tank right now. Beanie Wells, stud running back for OSU, went down with that ankle problem. He's being looked at on the sidelines, but that SUXXXXXX!!!!!!

The Oregon Ducks kick off their season at home tonight against those damned Washington Huskies. We're still having QB problems here. Nate Costa, who sat out last season after ACL surgery, blew it out again during training camp. So the Ducks will be starting Justin Roper tonight. Hopefully, his Sun Bowl performance from last season wasn't a fluke, but I'm not filled with confidence.

It's going to be a tough season for the Ducks, we lost too many good players after last year. I wish Jonathan Stewart had hung around for his senior year.

Once again, the MAC may be pulling another one of those patented "upsets" against the big boys. Maybe it's not Oklahoma or Florida, but Bowling Green is beating Piit right now 27-17. Gotta love it!!

Way to go Falcons! MAC pulls off the upset again!!! :techman:

And something that has yet to be mentioned here, the winning touchdown for ECU was scored on a blocked kick with less than two minutes to go! Man how I LOVE this game!!!!

The Rich-Rod Era is off to a less than stellar start, with the Wolverines trailing 22-10 at halftime. I did NOT see that coming.

Georgia didn't blow out Ga. Southern like I thought they would, but it was still a soundly convincing win. Much moreso than the score indicates.

Florida ....WOW! They may be headed back to the BCS title game. I know Hawaii was exposed against Georgia last year, and they lost their coach and star QB. Still... this was scary. I'm betting Tebow will NOT win a second consecutive Heisman, but that's because he's going to get a lot more help and won't need to do as much himself this year.

I know it's early. I know it's only against Youngstown St. But I like what I've seen of Terrelle Pryor so far.
I don't like Pryor. Last year he chewed out Penn State students for not going to his high school basketball game in the Bryce Jordan Center, saying if we were serious about bringing him to PSU we'd have gone. Yeah, maybe we would have, if we weren't all away on spring break. Then the school paper editorial board agreed with him! Pissed me off to no extreme. Sorry, but no potential recruit is so important that the students should have to kiss his ass to convince him to play for us.

Anyway, couldn't get anything out of Penn State's game today. I wish the out of conference schedule wasn't such a joke.

Pffft.... he was a 17 yr old kid. They all say stupid things at one time or another. That does sound rather immature of him, though. Personally, I kind of doubt he was ever really serious about going to Penn St. You guys looked pretty good yourselves today, even if it was against Coastal Carolina.

Ever since Pryor arrived on campus, he seems to be saying and doing all the right things. We'll see how he does when he plays against better teams and times get tough.

Michigan is getting beaten up on both sides of the ball, now. The Utah offense is moving, the Utah defense is not. I know it's going to take some time to get used to Rich-Rod's system ... but it won't be easy for Michigan fans. Sorry for you, Commander Vaughn :(.

To be fair, I think Neroon was talking about Pryor as a player, not a person ;)

Who's going to be Penn State's QB anyway?

As long as they have this Royster kid, it may not matter one whit who PSU's quarterback is. That kid looks special.

LSU easily handled App. state, it was interesting listening to ASU's coach noting the differences between Michigan ad LSU.

Well, LSU's a better team than Michigan was. I was expecting it to be a bit closer, but that's about it.

Maryland beat UD in the game they ended up televising on ESPN. It was a much closer game (but UMD's not a particularly great I-A team). The announcers pointed out an interesting thing, though. Delaware is ranked 4th in I-AA teams this year. However, they're ranked 3rd in their conference (the other one being Appalachian State). I think that really shows that they play in the toughest conference in I-AA football.

App State didn't look so hot today.

The Utah v Michigan game was pretty good.

And it looks like Bama might beat Clemson. :techman:

I am very pleased with how USC fared today. Sanchez looked very good. Better than I had expected.

So we'll see OSU in two weeks. Will Wells be able to play? I didn't see the injury, just the scroll that said he left the game with a bad foot.

USC looked the best of all the top teams so far, considering the opponent and it was a road game. Sanchez was on the mark all day, and that stable of RB's is so good from top to bottom that it ought to be criminalized.

Wells' injury didn't occur on a hit but a plant. He came back to the sidelines after awhile, wearing a walking boot. He was smiling and joking and relaxed on the sidelines with the other RB's. X-rays were negative. My gues ... he will stayy off of it for a couple of days, get back into exercising and see limited action next weekend against Ohio U.

Only 30 more minutes until the Ducks kick off yet another bowl chase. It could either be a spectacularly good year if all the sophs and juniors play like they can or I could be watching every one else playing in December. On paper they look good, but that's on paper. The game's being televised on Fox Sports if anyone is interested.
