Top Gear New Series

The bit where the guys arm came off was the highlight of the show, then it kept spinning round on the wheel.

That's what they get for employing the only professional motoring television presenter slower than Captain Slow. He's like Commandant Slow.

I haven't been able to dig this up anywhere, but does the tech guy really have one arm or did they just make that up for comedy gold? In any case, I'm shocked not one of those cars toppled over.

So many highlights in this episode--Jay Kay beating Codpiece Cowell's lap time, Hammond's hilarious celebration upon winning the Bowler race (slightly justified considering the German accountant flipped him off during the race), and Hammond taking out the lap time board trying to put the Gumpert Apollo time at the top.

Good way to end the series!

It's going to make me smile for months that the fastest car ever is called a Gumpert...

...assuming Jezza puts the board back up as it was of course!

Yes, he really is missing an arm. If you watch it in slow-mo or freeze frame it you can see his short little arm waving around while he's trying to steer.

Though I don't usually approve, I did laugh at James Allies vs Axis drag race. Not a bad way to go out, but hopefully the autumn season will be a lot better.

^Yeah when I saw that I was screaming "HOLDEN, YOU IDIOT!" at the screen while laughing myself silly

Loved Police Car Challenge but i thought this season felt a bit off don't know why i think there was just a bit to much JC for my tasted.
Hope next season is better would hate to think the show is running out of steam.

If they can avoid spending too much time on the guests, maybe cut it back to one, and have some properly scripted challenges for all three of them together, it should get back on track quickly.

I'd like to see more races where Jeremy has a supercar and Richard & James have to use public transport. I think the show works best when they are all out on the road together.

I was about to make a new thread, but I remember this one would still be around.
So how come no discussion of the last 2 episodes?

Some of us aren't on GMT. :D

Last week's lorry episode was f-ing hilarious, even if it was completely staged. It just felt a lot more spontaneous than the early episodes last season did, which IMO is a good thing.

I should have more to say about the second episode later this week. Judging from the kickass teaser in the first episode, it looks like they saved up this year's budget for this half of the season--it looks like every other episode will have them going abroad and cocking about. And that's also a good thing.

I just assumed someone else would start one to be honest!

So far this series has been better than the last one I think. I was genuinely weeping last week during parts of the lorry challenge. I mean, I knew it was all going to go wrong, but the glory of Top Gear is that even though you can see things coming, they still hit the spot. I couldn't see for tears when that care fell out of the lorry or when Clarkson pulled up ablaze.

The lorryist controversy has pissed me right off though. It was completely tongue-in-cheek and made light of a ridiculous urban myth, just the Beeb said this week. I was glad they completely ignored it this week with the fake apology.

This week's 'holiday' was really good too. It actually felt like it WAS factual and was still entertaining.

Well I missed last weeks, otherwise I would have resurrected this thread (Or started a new one earlier. I set the repeat to record, then they preemted it for fucking Autumn Watch, so I'm just going to see if I can get it on iPlayer.
I did like that Jeremy took the piss about the "apology" he owed for last weeks ep, though.
