Drama huh?OTT... definitely. Mean? No, the intention isn't to be mean. It's point out that this drama and this whole "I'm picking up my ball and leaving" attitude, all that kid stuff... well, it's a bit silly. So I'm having a little bit of fun with it.
What they haven't told us is that they've actually planned two TPBs for the Romulan war:
The Romulan War: 2156-2158
The Romulan War: 2159-2161
And then KRAD writes the last of the TPBs to finish off the "Founding of the Federation" trilogy with:
Federation: Year One

Drama huh?
I try to explain my point. I even go to extra lengths to fully explain it and am presented with the classic harp on an insignificant part and pretend to not understand what is being said until the poster gets tired of talking and gives up.
So instead, I just say fuck the whole thing because obviously this is the current idea that sells books and dissenting opinions are mocked until they surrender. It's not my cup of tea and I don't feel the need to support it.
That apparently qualifies as failure.
I don't like next generation, ds9, voyager or enterprise and won't buy the dvds, books or anything related to them. That apparently also qualifies as failure. It is the same thing. If I don't want to support it I'm not going to. I'm not required to.
I then give thanks for the help in coming to the decision since it bothered me enough to even post about it. It was something I had posted about previously and was truly torn on the idea of giving up trek lit support.
Is the decision to not buy something I don't support "kid stuff silly"?
I stated I would not purchase these books after the discussion to let at least some author know of feedback and feelings on the issue.
By an author's response this also was a failure.
So be it.
I will content myself on a more limited avenue of entertainment and am fully aware of the loss. Again, my choice. At least it will be something I can support. If those change, then I will alter my support again. It is entertainment, and there are plenty of other options if I give up trek altogether. It is just not that important to accept whatever is produced with a trek label on it and like it.

It was a rather backhanded thanks. Suddenly I was the reason the authors were losing royalties?I then give thanks for the help in coming to the decision since it bothered me enough to even post about it. You are prejudging TOS novels that won't see publication for at least a year, because you assume they'll be referencing each other in ways that will force you to buy novels of ST series you don't follow?I stated I would not purchase these books after the discussion to let at least some author know of feedback and feelings on the issue... No, simply the discussion illustrated completely to me that this is the direction trek lit fans want and are seemingly excited to go to. Monomaniacal much? The thanks was simply that. I was undecided, then not.It was a rather backhanded thanks. Suddenly I was the reason the authors were losing royalties?
So in order to take the stand of a complete stop purchase on star trek lit books for myself as a voice of protest I have to wait until they are no longer being made, as condition. Nice logic. You are prejudging TOS novels that won't see publication for at least a year
Except, of course, for the references that they do have (like Blackjack Harriman). But on the whole, yes, they go out of their way to make it impossible to coexist with other novels.Well, for the record, the Crucible books didn't have any references to any other continuity in them, on purpose, for exactly the reasons you described.

wuzzat? ^^^
Maybe for the hardcover Crucible, you can put the MyrU moniker on it. Those books were fantastic!!Which, in a sense, is no different from what we're doing in Myriad Universes, just more subtle. There's no problem with coexistence, not on any level that actually matters.
