My favorite episode of "The West Wing" is In Excelsis Deo. The funeral scene of the homeless veteran was a tear jerker.

My favorite episode of "The West Wing" is In Excelsis Deo. The funeral scene of the homeless veteran was a tear jerker.

It definitely was...but I'm not sure why. I think that scene was trying to tell us something, but I'm not sure what it was. Is it because I'm not American that it eluded me?

I think the episode was telling us that we need to treat our veterans better then we do. Letting a man who defended his country to die of exposure is unacceptable.

The Sorkin years were definitely much better than the post-Sorkin years, though things did improve considerably during the last couple seasons. The most telling example of the drop in the quality, though, could be seen in the final episode. They made a huge factual error which anybody could have caught had they actually read the Constitution (hint: it concerns when presidents are inaugurated).

The Sorkin years were definitely much better than the post-Sorkin years, though things did improve considerably during the last couple seasons. The most telling example of the drop in the quality, though, could be seen in the final episode. They made a huge factual error which anybody could have caught had they actually read the Constitution (hint: it concerns when presidents are inaugurated).

Bartlett's forgetfulness of the 20th amendment was found in a throw-away line at least, and not part of a greater plot point. I blame the MS. And, besides, it wasn't as glaring as the convoluted interpretation of presidential succession that the show grappled with at the end of season 1/beginning of season 2.

"The West Wing" is in my top three favorite TV shows. I was very sad when John Spencer died but I was glad to see that they kept his name in the credits until the very end. My other favorite WW episode is "Mr. Willis of Ohio" from the first season. I head a rumor that a West Wing miniseries may be made about President Santos and former President Bartlett.

Sorkin made plenty of factual errors, so that's hardly indicative of anything. Going back to the first episode, where Toby bashs the Straw Christians who get the 10 Commandments wrong, he himself is also wrong. Or when they say Vermont borders Ontario.

Sorkin also made a huge blunder in "The American President" which he also wrote. There was a scene when President Shepard says he is going to send a White House Resolution to Congress for its consideration. There is no such thing. Only Members of Congress can intoduce legislation. The President cannot.
