# 1 - Great premise - horrible execution
Not sure what you mean by this without elaborating, but in a sense I agree. To me, the concept of the show had me excited because I thought it would be a step away from the "perfect" people of TNG and step into the darker side of morality. Though some episodes did explore it a little, in general the continuity was so poor that nothing really ever developed in that respect, and the only character that even evolved was the Doctor. Frayed nerves rarely carried over, supplies were only an issue for the sake of a particular story, and the ship returned in
better shape than it left in, not including the futuristic upgrades and whatever.
Agree. Very, very few noteworthy episodes came from this woefully beaten concept. In the end it degenerated into Spirit Folk, and that was just pathetic, really.
I'm not enough of a TV critic to chime in on this, but in comparison to previous Trek series', yes, the cast was very weak. For a trek series, the Captain's role has to be played with a compelling screen presence, and the first officer certainly helps too. Kirk/Spock, Picard/Riker, Sisko/Kira, Janeway/Chakotay - One of these does not belong. Guess which? If the
doctor is the most compelling character in a trek series, you know the series is in trouble.
Can't remember the particulars enough to comment on this.
I'd put this at #2, right after lazy/bad writing. Badly acted; Badly written; Weak screen presence; Wildly inconsistent and at times downright psychotic (see badly written); And most importantly, flat out annoying. Not good for your lead role.
Again, no argument there. As if Neelix wasn't bad enough. Jar Jar Binks, anyone?
Yeah that was annoying. So fearsome in TNG, yet in VOY they got outwitted at every turn by a group of incompetents. Each episode further humiliated the Borg. By the end of the series, assimilation was fun (LOLZ this spinal clamp tickles my ass!), and the Borg were downright retarded. Disembodiment is the epitomy of perfection? Er, come again?
This show was an abomination
Basically. Kinda like the Star Wars prequels. You know they're terrible, yet you go see them anyway because it's Star Wars. Meh. I did watch VOY once, but unlike its predecessors, I don't go back for repeats.
