Yeah, the Doctor/Rose run was a bit cheezy. But damnit, I still got a bit teary eyed in spite of myself. It was that damn music...
Oh, and Donna's expression when she said "Why don't you ask her yourself?" That was sheer wonderfulness. God bless CT.

It's a pity Sandbagger won't like it though. He hates everything.

Every Wilf line's a classic...Cribbins should really get his own spin off series.

Nope, The master he was there when the dalek emporer took control of the Cruciform. Different thing. And from the sound of it in that scene, it was aparently a Time Lord device, place, whatever.

actually lets say Donna & her mum die, and Wilf meets Sarah Jane, how cool would it be if Wilf was to move in with Sarah Jane, sadly to the best of my knowledge he hasnt been spotted at filming, so I guess that wont happen, but it would be cool if was to.
 
Daleks are all about the slave labour during their previous Invasions of Earth.

And to a degree they even value Collaborators if you watch Day of the Daleks.

What sort of relationship did the Daleks have with the Ogrons?

There's one thing that puzzles me. To whom did Harriet Jones lose the election? I was under the impression that due to the events in Last of the Timelords Harold Saxon never existed except for the Doctor and those around him. Wouldn't people start to wonder what happened to their prime minister? Was this adressed in one of the spin offs or somewhere else?

The Doctor promised her in "Christmas Invasion" that he would bring her down (with six words) and he essentially did by starting the rumor of her being in over her head and looking tired because of it. So it might be that she resigned or was put out of office (maybe by a motion of no confidence) long before the election of Saxon, or if not, she would have lost against whoever she ran against.

The Daleks used them as foot soldiers. Sort of their hired guns. I never understood why a race that was considered such an unstoppable conquering menace needed them.

Perhaps it was because the production team at the time hadn't figured out how to get around the problem with stairs. :D
 
I really meant, what did the Ogrons get out of it?

Slaves or mercenaries? Hell, it might even be possible they worshiped the Dalek's as gods like the Jem Hadar and Founder paradigm... It's been 20 years since I watched most of Pertwee's run.

I'm guessing all the flash and bang in this episode will prompt many to give it a fantastic. It was definitely entertaining but not quite solid enough to earn the top grade.

Frantic, frantic. Sometimes in the good way. But often it just felt rushed with everything shoehorned in. The big solution to call the Doctor by having everyone call the same number and then pump it through Torchwood was just dumb. Something like that depends on signal strength, not everyone calling the same number. What worked well was seeing SJS's and Captain Jack's horror at see hearing the Daleks, at seeing the Doctor just not knowing what to do. Wilf confronting the Dalek with a paint gun was a classic and the response "my vision is *not* impared" a great call back to "Resurrection."

Seeing the cast of all the shows was nice and they actually were used efficiently. Hopefully we can see them in action together in the finale. Having them together on a conference call while the Earth is being invaded was a bit of a let down. I did not by the tough girl Rose image. Just wasn't believable to me. Easily the low point of all the guest characters.

This episode did a workman job of setting up the situation but not much more. Ok, the Daleks are in control of the Earth and harvesting humans. Davros has something in mind. The moving the Earth and actually having the Doctor find it was interesting but just following those particles seemed like an obvious solution. Just follow the bread crumbs Doctor. So, it was shifted off by a 2nd, that shouldn't have been a big deal with a freaking *time machine* but apparently it was because there were flames and smoke in the control room. Don't tell me a one second hop was too much?!

The final scene with the regeneration were quite a shock but the use of time travel and jumping within your own history having been established took the shock out of it for me.

The seeds for the solution were definitely put in place. Prediction, Donna will jump within her own history and save events. The result will be that she loses her mind like Caan or, if she's lucky, just her memory. That was obvious set up. We already know that Donna is willing to sacrifice herself because she did that in the previous story. What's worse than that? Making it so you no longer remember your exciting adventures which were so important to her possibly due to being crazy!

I was confused by one thing. Probably just forgetting past events. What was Caan's story. What was his big jump into his own time bubble thing about?

Okay, this may be the dirty old man talking, but am I alone in thinking the only thing more epic than this episode was Catherine Tate's jugs ?
 
I got the impression the flames were due to the Tardis passing through a barrier in time and so not doing any sort of time travel itself, kind of like the Enterprise travelling through the temporal rift in First Contact.

As for the Doctor regenerating yeh that was a shocker but I have a theory without the hand being part of it (although it did get a good deal of screentime in recent episodes), what if the Master messing with him altered him, and instead of regenerating into a new form he regenerates and heals, would explain Jenny better.

Also however they do it they could use this as an excuse to change the Doctors personality, even if slightly.

well Donna isnt in it for starters and whilst well informed nerds would get that, the general public wouldn't get it.

that said I do feel like finding a picture of the guy romoured to be an alt Doctor from that episode, and seeing if its him the Doc regernates into next episode

Who the heck is that guy?

Yeah I was thinking the public might not get it but it could be possible that it's an episode set before season 4.
