Riker: "Tough little hat!"
Worf: "LITTLE?!"

Those eyes are perfect for the Sombrero Defiant. Nicely done! Now it just needs dual pulsed Adama Glare cannons.

Deep Sombrero Nine remains ever vigilant for Dominion banditos.

Could someone turn this into an animated gif avatar for me? Sisko needs to be firing pez, and the Menorahs need to be firing appropriately as well.

Also, if we could get the Christmas lights around the docking ring and some of those fuzzy dice hanging from the lower pylons, I would be most obliged.

NCC-1701, how about one for the DS9 forum? :D

It needs a goatee. You can't have a Sisko-related ship without a goatee.

Also, if you animate this further, you should have a slide that says..."On a 5 -year mission...to kick ass!"

Ira would be so proud!

A goatee. I agree. I'll work on it.

You know, I think I like this one better as is. Adding too much more would make the whole thing feel too cluttered and busy, as opposed to the sense of spaciousness you get here.

Okay, maybe the big eyes could shift back and forth, giving that Sisko "I'm watching you -- and you, too!" sort of impression.

Do find out how we can save this thread. It would be a crime to allow it to be lost to purges or to the actions of deranged Tech-Otters.

When you shrink it down to avatar size all the detail is lost (I tried).

M'Sharak - no need to make the spoiler code for the mod issue. In truth, I tried to figure that out myself several days ago.

On the old board you had to specifically save back threads from purging. For example, you can see that there are a handful of threads at the tale end of the DS9 forum which I have saved back over the years. I had to actively do that, and it used to be that only DS9 forum mods and admins could undo what I did.

I have looked through the thread management options on this board, and I don't see anything like the option we used to have on the old board.

We may need to bring this up in the BR with Antony, because this thread will NOT be ground through the purging machine, if I have anything to say about it.

This one is a definite keeper. Although I guess eventually people will get tired of carrying the images on their Photbucket accounts or whatever, and we might lose some of the photos. That's what has happened with the Orlando Bloom thread that has been held back in Misc for about 6 years.

I know. It just stuck me as a fun thing to do, kinda spur of the moment-like. :D

The very same thing I encountered, which is what made me want to bring it up here.

Yeah, the dead-link issue is always a concern, long-term, but I mainly wanted to avoid the possibility of the thread being summarily scrapped simply because there hadn't been any new activity for xx many days. That would be unforgivable.

Edit:

It occurs to me that the Art and Tech Forum people may already have worked out the answer to this. Couldn't hurt to ask, anyway.

^ I think it's already been pointed out that "Deja Q" made sombreros canonical.

;)

Thanks for animating my sombrero-fied DS9, EliyahuQeoni.

The one thing, besides firing menorahs and moving eyes, I had in mind for the animation was that the Sisko heads would be turning back-and-forth watching the 'skies' for enemies. (My first version had them on top of the docking ring above each of the small docking ports. They could then have swiveled a full 360 degrees. It looked too cluttered, so I moved them to the pylon docking ports.) Rotating the Siskos would probaly require hours of extra work, though.
