NBA Discussion - The Stretch Run

Perhaps one of the team doctors knows that trick Mr. Miyagi uses to fix Daniel's leg in The Karate Kid..... Hey! You never know! :p

Pierce has been in the league and devoted to his team long enough for this shit not to stick. Just like Kobe's crybaby antics at the beginning of the season, I'm giving Pierce the benefit of the doubt that he did actually hurt himself in a strange way he wanted to have checked out.
What I think happened (and what he is practiccally admitting now) is that he felt a pain that scared him so badly he thought he was really hurt. Fear can be a powerful thing.

Nice game 1 by the Celts, but it ain't over. :)

I still can't get a real read on this series other than to say that any time a team beats you 3 times in a season (as the Celts have done) it tends to sap confidence, and confidence is one of the most important things a team can have.

Anyway, on to game 2 and I hope, a Lakers breakthrough.

He should have sat on the floor holding his knee, rocking back and forth, shouting "EEEEESH-OWWW! EEEESH-OWWWW!" a la Peter Griffin.

That would have been more believable.

Is anyone else amused by the fact that there's a longer rest between games 1 and 2, which are in Boston, than there is between games 2 & 3 ... which are sandwiched around a coast-to-coast trip?

Hey, Boston's older, they need the rest. I don't think from a marketing perspective the 2-3-2 makes sense though, especially with a Celtics-Lakers series, where you want to run as many commercials and have as many games as you can.

Whats really funny is Celts fans who are trying to offer the fact that he was hauled off in a wheelchair as "proof" he was really hurt. Never mind the fact that he didn't require so much as an x-ray.

Pierce has got to be a bit embarrassed by all the Willis Reed comparisons.

Pierce's Oscar-worthy performance aside, the Lakers had better get it together tonight. We need Gasol and Odom to hit the boards hard, and Kobe has to improve his shooting.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Fisher hit some 3 pointers.

GO LAKERS!!

Kobe's got to get others involved FIRST, then look for his shot. That's what has worked so well for the Lakers this year.

As for the Celtics, well, the big three have to be consistent, and Rondo and Perkins have to play big.

Hell Damn Crap!

That was not what I was hoping for. The last three minutes of the second quarter were a nightmare!

:scream:

Well, I tried watching, but realized I actually hate both these teams with a passion ;)

My hate for the Lakers isn't what it used to be (I no longer hate Kobe as much, for example), so I started to root for them instead. But I still don't like them, so I turned it off instead.

2-0. Very nice.

I missed most of Game I as I was watching the Rays lose to the Red Sox, but I noticed that Fenway was in the spirit.

Beat LA!

The Boston Celtics have got to quit trying to give away the game at the end. I mean, from Powe running 3/4 of the court for a two-handed slam to cutting a 22-point deficit to 2 in 6-7 minutes is crazy.

I still get the feeling the Celtics haven't played their best game yet. And if they keep their foot on the throat until the end, they might win one in L.A.

If Kobe and the Lakers try and blame the refs and Karma for what happened, they won't have a chance. Some of it has to be the way they are playing.

Well that was absolutely pathetic.

Just an abysmal performance by the Lakers. They should be ashamed.

Congrats to the Celtics. They're obviously the better team.

DAMNIT!!!

:scream:
