Although, I thought Tululah was excellent in Saint Trinians and it's odd that she was already in both a Miss Marple and a Poirot TV film but fell one episode short of the mark for being included in the Unicorn and the wasp
She was also in the movie version of Pride & Prejudice, another story written by a brilliant female author. Here's hoping The Doctor visits her sometime in the future.

Another Who actress was in P&P, of course...

Yup. In fact, all five of the Bennett girls were played by very lovely and talented actresses. :D

But I think we've wandered a bit off topic... :o

I liked the line: "It is a security camera, an alive one" haha

I'm guessing the girl is the computer, it gives me a Resident Evil vibe

^^^ Yup, that would be the obvious conclusion.

Count Zero, I'm surprised you find the archaeologist line insulting. I understand it's your profession, but I just don't see The Doctor being arrogant with that comment. In the classic series, he often made fun of Einstein and other physicians, calling them idiots, and as physics graduate, I find those lines hilarious.

Well, insulting would be too harsh a word. In the new series the Doctor has been shown to rather appreciate humans trying to figure things out, even if they're rather clueless compared to him. So I think this remark was rather unwarranted. I'm not offended or anything. I was just a little annoyed.

Mmh, I wonder whether the solution will really be so obvious. Somehow I believe we're in for a surprise. Or at least I hope so.

^^^ Yeah, obvious may not be correct. There's various "obvious" things in this episode, not all may turn out to be correct. And, there's still the mystery of why the shadows gathered on this planet.

I gave it a tentative above-average-- there's a lot going on that's not really connecting, and I'd like to reserve judgment until part two to see if the Grand Moff pulls it off.

My favorite bits were the teaser and the afterdeath of the personal assistant.

Seriously what would you do to get your hands on a time machine no matter how inconsequential it would make all the skills you've taught your self?

It's like comparing someone with a telescope to someone with a spaceship.

The Doctor has been complimentary and insulting of humans throughout all of Doctor Who, so I take the insults along with the compliments. *shrug*

Finally saw it - adding my vote to all the "Fantastics"! Who wants to bet that this 2-parter is next year's Hugo?

I think I'll also be sleeping with a light on tonight.

Great stuff as always. I had to rewind to those moments where the  moment came about. Possibly for those stone advice columns they were people since Donna became one?

i'm pretty sure that the reason there are so many vashta nerrada (or how you write it anyway) on the libraryplanet is...

their homeworld got destroyed, just like the other homeworlds that got destroyed this season, by the "coming darkness". And they just moved to another world, in this case the libraryplanet

That makes a lot of sense. In fact, I'm surprised no one else (myself included) thought of that sooner.

There's a coming darkness and these things that live in the dark and impersonate the dark are running from a completely different darkness? Really?

I thought it might have something to do with the little girl - Fear Her style psychobabble.

Actually the initials are CAL.

My guess it'll be something along the lines of Computer (or Computing) Algorithm Library.

I haven't seen any vashda nerrada eat a planet yet, and the overarching theme this season seems to be "the dark side", so why not?

also my guess for CAL is

Central Artificial Library

Maybe you're being too literal with the use of the word "destroyed"? Sweeping all life and civilization of a planet is the destruction of a world if not a planet?

But we don't know if these things think? Because the villain is a time traveling threat unless it moves through space really slowly to effect planets in the 1st century, 21st century and 51st... Hang on?
