Star Trek REALITY SHOW?

I haven't seen this idea proposed before, so I congratulate you on being original.

The biggest problem I see with this is the part about it being a reality show, when Star Trek itself is a fictitious universe. Maybe if they had to like actually live on an area of a building to be remodeled to look like ship hallways, with fake windows of images of stars passing by...That might be interesting. Give them Uniforms.

They could train in different areas that a good Starfleet Officer needs to know in. Like they could have an episode where they worked on diplomacy, and each contestant had to negiotiate a deal with a Tellarite, Andorian, etc., without getting them mad or violating Starfleet's orders. ("Don't let them have Alginua III, no matter what.") They could do planet search and resuce missions, target practice, and what not. One of the episodes could have their 'ship' being attacked by an alein vessal in the middle. They could have a Borg challenge, too.

It would be fun to have someone like Jonathon Frakes (Riker) be the host. There's some potential here but I think you'd have to have one of those crazy risk taking executives to get it on, and I don't know what channel. Sci-Fi maybe?

That would be really cool, I like the idea of making it so that the people int he show could kinda "get lost" in the Trek Universe and "lose themselves" in the action scenes, etc.. etc...

I would have "the set" be a old office building that is remodeled in the inside to resemble a starship with the quarters having "windows" that are display screens with stars moving by etc...

You could also build a prop that would be hauled around on a tractor trailer that would be a "shuttle" that would give the participants the "illusion" of actually using a shuttle craft, they would enter the shuttle in the bay and after a 1/2 hour or so it would dump them off in a field for a "away team" scenario.

I would have a bridge and an engineering set and maybe a even a sickbay. You would have actors play some of the parts, but the main roles would be played by fans that would compete for best team performance.

If done with care and love this could be almost the next best thing to actually living in the 24th century for a few weeks.

What people remember most about Survivor (i.e.-around the water cooler) is the drama, political backstabbing, and half-naked people.
Yeah, that's just what Star Trek needs.

As far as I'm concerned, the best Star Trek reality series (and I find the premise dubious at best) would probably have to be Star Trek: The Apprentice, with Quark in the Donald Trump role!

Nope..I stick to my guns...a reality show like SURIVIOR with real people, not former stars of TREK..They would compete in physical and mental challenges..the final two, on the season finale, would compete something like the Koybiashi Muru..the winner is crowned and Shatner, or Picard, is there to congradulate them....

You all may not like it? And as I said before; that is a GOOD thing. I am not trying to appeal to the choir (us) I am trying to bring in new fans with old fans...this show would DEFINATELY do better than Enterprise in the ratings if on a major network..that much I am confident of

Rob

I've seen something like that on SciFi channel (Who Wants to Be a Superhero), and it did manage to hook ME in. Especially since the winner got his own comic book and a role in a SciFi movie. It was basic stuff that challenged your courage and intelligence, faceing your fears, stuff like that. It *could* work, maybe, but I think it would be a longshot.
