What brought you to TrekBBS?

I honestly can't remember what brought me here. It's been over 8 years. Perhaps I found the TrekToday news outlet first and saw that little link to TrekBBS in the corner and thought...hmmm...what's that?

Because I lost a bet.

It's been over 8 years, I honestly can't remember how I even found this place.

Not sure. If it was someone here, he probably hasn't been around for a long time.

I believe he stopped posting shortly after I arrived (some six years ago)... I hope it wasn't something I said! :D I suppose I was his replacement in a way (talk about short-changeing the place ).

How I came here is actually through Stargate. I discovered SG in 2006 and it coinsided with me getting online. I discovered Gateworld.net and made a lot new friends and had some great discussions and decided to see if there was any similier Trek sites and did a google search and found this site. I was a casual Trekkie before but now I want to get all the DVDs in all the Trek series except TOS so I can discuss it more with people on here.

Back when I signed up, I was visiting a number of show/movie/franchise related sites. Wanting to discuss Star Trek, I went to startrek.com and signed up. It turned out to be a cesspool. One of the few sane members there knew I was looking for a decent place to discuss Trek, and recommended this site.

My brother told me about it. We would watch Star Trek together when we were younger. We now live apart, but it is one thing we still have in common.

For me, It was Enterprise's 2nd season and I was reading the StarTrek.com message boards. Someone posted a link back here to a review of Regeneration written by someone posting under the name "Samuel T Cogley." It was hilarious, and I made a note of TrekBBS.com.

In that thread, or another Regeneration thread I noticed that there was a reply from the actual guy that actually wrote the episode. I was shocked. WOW! This must be the place for serious Trekkies.

Guartho, I am both honored and humbled. (And we all know that doesn't happen very often.) ;)

Do I get a finder's fee?

If you are interested in a trip down memory lane, my "Regeneration" review can still be found here:

And Mike Sussman's response can still be found here:

I remember early on, when I was writing my reviews, a buddy came up to me and said, "_________, you've got to read these reviews on the internet. I think they are totally your style." And I said, "Yeah, they should be. That's me." To this day, I still don't think he believes me.

It was all the hype for Trek XI, and speciafically Dale Hoppert's "Generic Parody Thread" that convinced me to re-register, and I've sorta stuck around this time. A warm welcome from our own Samuel T. Cogley didn't hurt. :D

Well, I'm going to take credit for that one, too, because Dale was using that thread to make fun of my many parody threads at that particular moment. I even participated in it until he turned on me. Why, I oughta...

Back at the beginning of the century, I was into 3d modeling and there was a little Star Trek discussion board attached to the 3d Gladiators board, which itself had sprung out of the defunct ScifiArt board. I think it was called the Subspace BBS and it used a graphic of the Space Station K7 as it's logo. Maybe Starship Polaris or Samuel T Cogley can remember because I believe that that's where I first encountered those crotchety old coots. Fond memories.

I think Starship Polaris may still have plans for that site in the future, but I'm not sure. I won't speak on his behalf.

However, what's left of my reviews (the ones the hackers didn't get to) can still be found at the link above, if anyone's interested.

There was a trail of Smarties up to the board.

Smarties are fucking awesome. I have a huge bowl of Smarties on my coffee table at home.

I don't know: at least I remember you. ;)

The ones on your coffee table may not be the same thing, though. They're a different item on the other side of the pond.

It's called being in middle school and having no friends! ;)

I also have a college degree now... scary stuff.

Truly, you are the axis upon which this board spins. Sits and spins, but still spins. ;)

I love ST in all of it's manifestations, and always have -- And I like to talk about it with people who are as crazy about it as I am.
