Hockey Talk - 2007-2008 Season

The Wings look awesome, but the goaltending for the Avs was just brutal in that series.

Kudos to Jagr for showing heart yesterday - 3 points after taking a massive hit while scoring his first goal - too bad he wasn't doing that 3 games ago....

Wings do look real good.. and Jose was playing great in the first round, so I don't know what happened there.

But... it doesn't help that we had five key players out. Peter Forsberg (groin, ankle), leading scorer Paul Stastny (knee), forwards Ryan Smyth (foot), Wojtek Wolski (ribs) and Marek Savtos (knee).

RJ Umberger had something like 13 goals in the regular season, and he had 8 goals vs. Montreal. Crazy.

That ruffling sound you're hearing is me crumpling up my predictions for this round and tossing them into the closest waste basket. Goddamnit it, Habs.

Don't worry, the Habs are a very young team. They'll be good for years to come.

Yours may have been in the closest waste basket but mine was right on the money :p

Umberger was initially drafted in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft 16th overall by the Vancouver Canucks.
and they traded him for whom? I cant remember.
way to go Flyers, all the teams I want not to win the Cup are out.

Fuck. I was hoping for an OT victory. A 3rd period rally means nothing if you can't seal the deal.

Sigh. Even my back-up team, the Sharks, aren't looking too good.

WOW! Pens win! What a beautiful overtime goal! It's really awesome to get to have these great experiences of OT playoff winners again so soon after the Penguins were the worst team in the league and seemingly headed out of town.

I'm glad the goal did not come during the double minor penalty to the Rangers that was the cause of such consternation due to the officials missing a similar call on Pittsburgh earlier. The Rangers really made this a tough series and a real nailbiter for me.

So, now... the battle for the Keystone State can begin in earnest!

They seemed asleep for most of the 3rd period. They didn't call anything until the end. It was probably the heat. Hockey shouldn't be played in 85+ degree days.

Habs should be ashamed of themselves. They finish number one in the conference and have to face Boston in the quarter-finals with whom they went 8 and 0 in the regular season and then face Philly in the semi-finals with whom they went 4 and 0 in the regular season and it took them seven games to win against the first and they lost in five games to the second? They could not have had better playoff adversaries and they have no one to blame but themselves for their lousy performance in the playoffs.

Good lord, will the Stars/Sharks game ever end? I am starting to lose will power and I'm not the one playing it. Poor players =/

^ It reminds me of game 1 from last year's series between the Canucks and the Stars. That one went to 4 OTs as well (though this one could last even longer).
