Hockey Talk - 2007-2008 Season

Hmm, Penn State does this for big football games and we were told to 'cease and desist' by the Colorado Avalanche because they were the first to do it as the Winnipeg Jets. We can still wear all white, but the term 'white out' is verboten.

You shouldn't have listened. The Colorado Avalanche used to be the Quebec Nordiques. The Winnipeg Jets (who originated the "white out") are now the Phoenix Coyotes.

Phew! Pens win another close one. I have to admit that they got away with one too, with the refs blowing the whistle early on what would have been the tying goal for New York.

This will be a very hard-fought series, no matter what the record ends up being.

The puck might have still been free, but the ref didn't really do anything wrong. It was buried and completely out of his sight. Of course he was going to blow the whistle.

Another distressing Sharks game ending in a loss. Evidently they forgot there was 3 periods in a hockey game, not two. Man what a choke job that was. Now it's a 0-2 deficit going to Dallas and I think if the Sharks don't sweep that set, the series is over.

Yeah, I realized my error but was too lazy to go back and fix it. All those changes happened before I started following hockey (1998). Regardless of where it came from though we weren't exactly given a choice about it. So "white out" became "white house." I suppose we're lucky the President didn't object.

Flyers won! I'm getting sick of 2-goal leads vanishing, though.

I feel so sick right now, mentally. It's so hard watching the Sharks fuck up game after game like they have in this series. Game 1, overtime goal from Marrow. Game 2, Sharks quit in the third. And now Game 3, Norstrom with the goal and it's 3-0 Dallas. The Sharks don't deserve to win this series based on that play. Heck, I'm starting to think maybe they might as well get swept so Ron Wilson can be fired the next day. This is frustrating, annoying, and is really ticking me off. There is no spunk to the Sharks this series. I think Calgary, if you think about it ,might have really won the day just by tiring San Jose out because that's what it looks like in this series. San Jose looks tired and worn out.

I still hope they can pull out a game, but it's so hard to watch now. The season might as well of ended tonight. :( :( :( :(

The Penguins need to lose a game soon. This is just too easy for them.
No teams perfect. And all good things must end eventually. And in this case it may or may not end before the end of the playoffs. So we shall see.

I almost dont even know who I want to win anymore. So far I am sticking with Philly in the East and Colorado in the West. After that...we'll see. This year was just not a good year for me I guess.

In other news, I bought myself the old 1967 Los Angeles jersey off Ebay today. Partially in self pity for my lack of team picking skills haha. I am going to have to get it sent in to get a name sewn on the back though, however it's not a big deal as I've done it before.

Has anyone heard how Sean Avery is doing? Apparently he was injured in the game with the Pittsburgh last night. Something about a lacerated spleen.

The gist of it is that nobody knows precisely when it happened. It was never life-threatening and he doesn't need surgery, but he's out for the rest of the playoffs.

Wow. Hell of a game between Montreal and Philly. Can't say I'm surprised the Flyers won, though... despite being out-shot, they were outplaying the Habs.

I told my Mom before the game that the Flyers would get a 2-goal lead and blow it. Things went according to script.

Every game this series has started with a 2-0 lead that Montreal almost-comes back from (or in one case, does). It's almost funny.

Wow, the Sharks season isn't over yet. I'm kind of shocked. ;)

Seriously, good win for the Sharks. Hope they can do it again on Friday.

This is awesome. Awhile back, I posted the article in the Washington Post that said, among other things, that women and children at Flyers games look like they could be security for a Megadeth. Flyers had a lot of fun with that. But, of course, so did Dave Mustaine.

On megadeth.com

In response to a Washington Post column about the Philadelphia Flyers fans that read "women and children could be security for Megadeth," Dave Mustaine sent a videotaped message of support wearing a jersey of the Flyers captain, Jason Smith. Megadeth and the Philadelphia Flyers have joined up to give fans of both the team and the band a special playoff treat - a free downloadable iron-on so you can make your own Megadeth Security shirts. The Flyers continue their playoff run on Wednesday night against the Montreal Canadians.
