Classic Fanzines, Anyone?

What do you think would happen if anyone tried to start up a variation of the paper/mailing kind of Fanzines in this day and age?

I think of it every so often. I have a few unfinished issues that got shunted away when email, blogs and then Facebook, replaced all the old ways of how fans communicated.

I used to love to riffle a fanzine that I helped to create or collate. Such a sense of achievement. I do miss them. Reading digital fanzines is just not the same.

I had a friend who made a fanzine and distributed it
It was mimeographed. I had one poem published in it. She and I ended up becoming penpals for over 15byears as a result of it. I doubt the fanzine went more than a few issues as she got busy with university. There was another fanzine focused on Data that I contributed to when TNG was on the air.

There are some pieces from fanzines in the AOS.

Many fanzines lasted only a few issues.
Oh geez, poetry. That reminds me of the fanzine story collections, Star Trek: The New Voyages and New Voyages 2. I liked their two poems as a passionate teenager, possibly overestimating their literary quality, but you try writing a touching, heartfelt poem about a TV show. The fiction was great, too.

Along with the non-fiction oriented Best of Trek paperbacks, they remain my only taste of fanzine writing. My impression is that their professional quality was at the high end of what the fanzine universe had to offer.

I don't think the poster magazines count as fanzines, considering at least some issues had newsstand and bookstore distribution.
They were licensed by Paramount, so i'd count them as official.

Of course, a fair amount of the world-building content they contained would be considered fanon these days.

For various reasons due to certain recent events I find myself very nostalgic for the 70's lately. Part of me would like to go back to a time when TOS was the ONLY Star Trek and all books, articles, all the thinking of fans and producers alike was based on that as back in the 70's.

Those were the days. There was a long interval when [I thought] I owned every published Star Trek book, period. That lasted until Pocketbooks flooded the zone with TMP-era novels that I didn't really want after the first few. And I wouldn't find out about Mission to Horatius until the Internet, but that was no great loss.
