Evidence of SNW being a possible alternate timeline from TOS

I’ve never liked the design of it or how handwavium it is as a plot device. I think it calls too much attention to itself.

Of course, mileage will vary.

I get that, but I can also think in the case of ‘09, there’s context to consider.

It was a hugely expensive project intended to launch a franchise which had floundered to a general audience again. Some streamlining (or liberties) taken with narrative was the right move to make I think.

You’re free to do what you want, but stuff like this isn’t going to win you any friends.
Reddit is also supremely hostile and insults at the slightest provocation. The anonymity factor is even more intense there.

Here, at least, there's some agree to disagree occasionally. But, words on the screen come with a certain dehumanizing effect, and I'm sure people are not actually laughing at other people or "loling" or whatever.

The thing I love about this place is having my worldview challenged. Whether it be about the world or sports or Star Trek. I like that so many people bring their 'A' games here. Reddit is just an echo chamber for every need. I was the member of a couple of Ancient Astronaut/alien/UAP groups for a while. I didn't last long once I started peppering my posts with basic logic.

And we get passionate here. We’re Trek fans. Talking about Star Trek. On the internet. So, yes, sometimes people come off a little strong. But it’s because of something we love. We may pile on. We may get out of hand and need a reminder to pull it back, but even at our worst, the number of people who are truly being malicious is pretty low.

While I personally think you're one of the nicer posters around here in that you're not forcing your viewpoints via mocking emojis, personal insults, and the like, you are extremely persistent in repeating your viewpoints again and again and again that most of new Trek is an alternate timeline. This is not meant as a personal attack or an insult against you, but more of an observation.

The stance of the corporate owner is that they're the same timeline, minus the Eugenics War changes. You've made your claims many times on how it should be an alternate timeline but haven't convinced a lot of people. It also seems that you aren't keen on other explanations, such as my own "refit between shows" fan explanation (which itself isn't popular and unforunately has gotten me personal attacks, mocking emojis and the like, and I appreciate you not ever taking part in any of that vileness). However, at this point, I'm not sure what new there is to say and your repeating the same points will probably get you the same personal attacks etc. that seem to be the norm around here unfortunately when a viewpoint doesn't fit the "majority".

Perhaps you should create your own Trek "timeline" on your own website or as a fanbook or something minus SNW etc. Star Wars fans have done so (Supernatural Encounters for example as well as a complete Legends timeline book that excludes Filoni's Clone Wars because the author insisted it wasn't part of Legends canon despite Lucasfilm's stance)

You could also reach out to Bernd Schneider of Ex Astris Scientia for collaborating, as he also is of the viewpoint that most of new Trek is an alternate timeline, at least his website seems to indicate this.

You may also want to move to reddit where the atmosphere is less generally hostile to non-majority ideas, as I've slowly been doing.

Well this thread is about if its possible. Its just a theory and ruminating about it. Its all in good fun to be honest. Im not typing away angrily or anything.

A side note. One of the creators of SNW recently said at a con that they "believe" its the prime universe. So I found that strange he would say it that way. Ill post the article later after I find it. Just another interesting note.

Also Reddit would not be fun. Those guys are pretty rough in their discussions. Lol

Many of them are the dimmest of the dim. I may have my disagreements with you, but I think you’re better than that.

Agree with both of you 100%. Even if I disagree with you, Tron (and I often do), I know you’re not being malicious. You mean well. I don’t feel that in most communities outside of this place.

YouTube has people who will post vile comments on Bob Ross videos. The day I discovered that was the day I knew we here at the BBS weren't even close to being the worst.

All in all, we’re a very weird, dysfunctional family. I wouldn’t trade this place for any other on the internet. Yeah, I’ve taken my lumps over the years but have never felt like it was out of anyone being mean to be mean.

I’ve learned a great deal about life from this place.

I don’t always agree with you, but this forum would be worse off without you.

I always got the sense most people who griped about red matter was because it was plainly named "red matter" as it didn't sound scientific enough. A Rick Berman production would have likely called it "neutrino matter" or whatever random technobabble name.
