Evidence of SNW being a possible alternate timeline from TOS

Except the very function collapses unless somehow by some entirely improbable coincidence all the predestination paradoxes of 23rd and 24th centuries that allowed 19th, 20th and 21st century Earth to reach the same points necessary to maintain a perfect duplicate sequence of events managed to happen in this modified reality too. And everything new that was added to the lore from new shows must also be added in there too.

It really is just less of a headache to look at it as an entire separate universe like one of the ones from Parallels, plus it prevents inviting comparisons between the characters because none of them are the same at all.
Except, not to add to the headache, but Parallels shows branches off of each other, similar to the tangents in Back to the Future, or Quantum Realities in Stargate.

I also add in a deleted line from 09 that Kirk wonders how they are encountering people Spock Prime knows and Spock speculates that the timeline is possibly trying to repair itself.

And we see similar ideas even within SNW that the Eugenics Wars and Khan, and such are events that keep happening even if pushed forward.

So, Narada causes a parallel split and that some events continue to occur because they were started pre split.

The way I deal with time travel stories is simple (though in my youth I frequently tried to make things fit all together). Since time travel isn’t real and no time travel story stands up to close scrutiny, I simply take one on its own terms as presented in the story. Much gentler on the blood pressure.

2.5k posts and still no evidence.

This thread is a joke.

There's no evidence because that is not the intent of the producers of the show. If they wanted the show to take place in an alternate universe, they would have said that.

Now with that said, people can choose to interpret what they see on screen any way they like, because what is seen on screen, in my honest opinion, is totally subject to interpretation.

Because it's highly subjective. Part of Star Trek experience is the expectations that things remain perfectly preserved, and treated like historical research projects, subjected to historical preservation standards.

Others treat it it closer to theatrical production, simply shifting set pieces that can change, without impact upon the broader story. The Enterprise is Enterprise, the phasers still phase, warp drive still warps, etc.

And everything in between, and leans heavily on personal interpretation.

I mean, everyone who insists that the ship "always" looked like the SNW aesthetics is inadvertently admitting it's a "close enough" alternate timeline where somehow the aesthetics must have changed. I think it's all the same timeline and that's why I claim there's some offscreen refit between SNW and TOS.

As it is, there's now the major bit that the Eugenics Wars happened at least 40 years later than originally occurred, although this only affects the dialogue in Space Seed and WoK.

(As for Cage and Q&A and Menagerie, I'm kind of pretending that the holdover from the mind-affecting Rigel mission messed with the crew's perception of the ship and this carried over into the Talosians' illusion in Menagerie, but I admit this is a stretch).

Just two different TV shows made at two different eras. How one interprets them is up to them. The one thing that one can’t do is try to force their interpretation on others.

Because Simon Pegg and his theory he cooked up while co-writing BEY. I adore Pegg, but I don't buy for a minute that the Kelvin Timeline is also different going backwards from Nero's arrival.
Well, you have to consider that altering the timeline in 2233 would also change or prevent future time travel events to periods before 2233.

Like the reason why 21st Century Guinan doesn't remember Picard in Picard Season 2 is because the Alt Future Picard never went back in time and meet her in the 19th Century.

People tend to forgive early discrepancies in shows on "early installment weirdness". Well, looking at the Star Trek franchise as a whole, TOS should be looked at as "early installment" weirdness. That doesn't put it in an alternate reality or anything like that.
And that's been true since TMP and TNG. Instead of doing a special edition, like Lucas, Roddenberry just did Phase 2 moving in to a film and new series with shared language separate from TOS.
