What games are you playing currently?

See, I still haven't played the second game. I liked the first well enough, but I never got around to playing the sequel the first time around, let alone when they came out with a remaster. Which leads me to one of my main peeves with the industry's trend for remastering games and removing older versions, which drives up the price. I'm pretty convinced they do this in order to keep the price higher.

Anyhow, I've much preferred the Uncharted series and I hear they have a new one in the works.

European Heatwave Simulator! Down to £2.50 now it's cooled down a bit.

Stressful but daft fun, exactly what you expect. Laughed out loud when I realised the cure to in-game stress was smoking a cigarette.

I beat the main game back in 2020. I also got the platinum trophy back then. And then when they recently announced the sequel, I somehow found out about the Truth Quest DLC. So I bought the DLC and I just finished it (and got all the trophies) like 10 minutes ago. :D

Wwwwhhhhaaaaaaaa??? First I've heard of it. New Uncharted?

Well, more like rumours with strong hints that there's one in the pipeline, alongside development of Intergalactic Heretic Prophet. Naughty Dog is a studio that works in parallel structure, developing two or more projects at the same time, so it would make complete sense that Uncharted would be one of these, even if they are just in a preliminary phase. The director of Lost Legacy, for instance, was stated to be doing research in Trinidad and Tobago, which screams out Uncharted. Not like that would be part of Last of Us...

Just started Robocop: Rogue City

Seems fun so far - It's from the Terminator Resistance dev's so more of a AA busget game but it looks and feels like a Robocop game. I just wish for less repetition of what the enemies say when you gun them down.

Have you played Robocop Rogue City? What was that one like if you have?

I liked that game up until the boss battle at the end. Making it so that you have to go through the entire sequence again, including cutscenes, was a pain. It doesn't help that the boss battle is harder than the rest due to the restrictions on the amount of space that you have in moving around, making it frustrating to deal with. Particularly frustrating because the game had some pretty good accessibility features that allowed you to tune it to your liking, but seems to forget about all that during the boss battle, which made it too much of a frustrating experience for me.

Man, I'd forgotten about that. Totally agree with your assessment. I was happy when I got through it after a few tries!

Yeah, it made my anxiety go through the roof. I understand the reason for doing it, ie to give it an inflated sense of difficulty, but I did not like that, given that most of the game was fairly well balanced and adjusted to difficulty level. But then that boss fight comes up and it was much harder than it needed to be. And to be fair, I'm not asking for it to be a cakewalk, or even the game asking if I want to skip it, or in the case of Uncharted 3 , a QTE sequence that replaces the battle entirely. I'm just asking for a game to respect the choice the player made and not be forced into a design that increases the difficulty 10-fold. I actually ended up having to give up on it.

I got through it by dumb luck. It certainly wasn't due to any understanding of what was happening, or what ideal strategy I should be taking.

Admittedly, some games are easier to figure out the strategy, but poor design can sometimes make something far harder than it needs to be, and that includes not being generous with save points if a game can't be manually saved.
