Every time that was quoted it was pointed out he said that after season 4 was filmed.
Also it's quite clear now that this is what Goldsman thinks is quality TV. How he still gets work after Picard 2 is beyond me.
I could see them being burned, considering they tried to tie nearly everything last season into an arc and it was a faceplant.
Not being familiar with American soap operas that post credit scene mostly reminds me of the terrible credits from Lynch's Dune.

I liked it for the soap opera parts. That was funny. Pretty sure Peck was on the verge of breaking there a couple of times. The cast probably did a bunch. I bet they had fun with this one. I didn't care for the overall deep feeling message the episode was trying to convey. Meh. So only a 6 of 10 for me. The end credits thing was funny. Shaky box where you get your things. And of course having an actual soap opera star as Dr. Chivers was cool. ANd that ship La'an and Sybok were on was impressive. I liked that look.

I gave up on SNW midway through S3. Every time I see the synopsis for the latest episode it's yet another stupid eyerolling concept. It really seems the writers are out of ideas and have given up at this point. Just waiting for this era to end and for new people to come in and do something different with Star Trek.
Fun episode. A chuckled a few times. It was a very much in the vein of old school soaps. Close ups and musical stings. Modern ones don't use those tropes anymore. OTOH, they do still use Evil Twins, parental reveals, medical issues and trauma. Gave it an 8

I did love Community but yeah, I'm seeing it now.
I'll bet it's the first thing they think of when they sit down to write.

IMO - Hot garbage and near the bottom as one of the worst Trek episodes/films like:

SNW S3 A Space Adventure Hour which I REALLY disliked (gave it a 1 because I felt it was laughing at the Star Trek Franchise and not with it.) There have been very funny and spot on parodies of Trek and Trek tropes but this wasn't one of them.
This was a real waste of an episode slot. IDK who thought 'soap opera melodrama' was a good 'big swing/genre episode.
The acting of everyone with the exception of Anson Mount was painful to watch.
I also don't care for the 'out of time' older Trelane. he was bad is SNW S3 and bad here. So...he's in 'Q College' and failing his dissertation?
...who cares?
Out of all the TNG Q episodes, the ONLY ones I liked were TNG S2 Q-Who and TNG S7 All Good Things. The rest of the Q appearances Trek wide (including in PICARD)...meh.
And they even bring in a Proctoring Q who gives off Guinan vibes and in a Costume whose colors are supposedly invoking the 'known' Q from the TNG Pilot and All Good Things in his 21st Century Earth/Human Judicial Robes...
Then you have Ethan Peck playing Spock's Half-Brother Sybok, complete with "...Let me share your Pain..." I's surprised they didn't have him spouting some Shaka Re nonsense. Also, what in the hell (given they both had different Mothers) suddenly makes them effective Identical Twins (Yeah I know...Q Magic...)
Also, they never bother to explain WHY Trelene's Mind F**k works 100% (turning them into melodramatic pawns who still remember everything that happened afterwards) on everyone EXCEPT Pike?
So...what raises it from a 1 to a 3 for me?
+1 point For Anson Mount's overall performance here. The script was 99% garbage but he powered through and gave an excellent performance.
+1 for the inclusion of, and Pike further processing the grief he felt from experiencing in the psychic dream sequence back in SNW S3, a life and family with Captain Batel, and resolving the grief and loss he felt over the daughter he loved but never really had.
I REALLY hope this is the end of these 'Big Swing' idea episodes for the rest of SNW S4 and all of SNW S5.
I hate having episodes in my favorite Trek series that I just can't stand to watch more than once.

That was kind of the point. Soaps have a reputation (Often undeserved) for bad acting.
It's not one of my favorite SNWs, but it also isn't bad.
Yeah really wasn't a shuttle
it reminded me of one of the freighters from Enterprise.
