So we decanonize all terrible Trek. I'll start: Threshold, And the Children Shall Lead, Profit and Lace, Insurrection, Endgame, and the vast majority of ENTERPRISE.
Oh, can we please decanonize “The Inner Light”?!
Pretty please!
So we decanonize all terrible Trek. I'll start: Threshold, And the Children Shall Lead, Profit and Lace, Insurrection, Endgame, and the vast majority of ENTERPRISE.
I've been reading Trek novels since I was a kid. They have never been canon, yet I enjoyed reading them. Please explain.Doesn't matter. It can still be decanonized. Paramount owns it. They can do what they want
Okay, let's consider for a moment that the entirety of SFA were to be removed from canon. That still wouldn't erase the 32nd century, as we still have Disco seasons 3-5 set there. What reason would Paramount have for removing them? Even if we accept your premise that SFA is so terrible and no one is watching it therefore it deserves to be removed from canon, that would not be applicable to Disco. Ignoring subjective opinions on the quality of that series for a moment or the fact the characters were always crying or whatever, the objective fact remains that people did watch Disco. It would not have gotten five seasons and two direct spinoffs otherwise, to say nothing of the fact the entire Kurtzman era of shows wouldn't have happened if Disco were considered a failure by any metric. And yes, even the 32nd century seasons can be considered a success as SFA would never have gotten the greenlight otherwise. So even if the decision makers at Paramount take your side regarding SFA and decide it should no longer be canon, there is absolutely no reason to expect them to do the same with Disco. That is a show people watched and it did bring Paramount money. Even the seasons set in the 32nd century. There is absolutely no compelling reason to remove it from canon at all.It was beaten by reruns of sponge Bob, everybody loves Raymond and king of queens week after week. It had very low viewership. Maybe the lowest of any live trek ever made. Why keep such a bad show as canon? Its in the 32nd century removing it will at least leave the future open again for 25th century trek.
C'mon folks, if you could pick a target to zap with the erasing time gun, what would it be? Go wild!

Like it or not, the 32nd century is canon and is here to stay as canon. Even if the next Trek series is a 25th century sequel to Picard, it will still have to accept the 32nd century as its canonical future.
Any future showrunner could easily mark of all kurtzman trek an alternate timeline. Starting right at khan. That time change basically changed everything.
That's not a change in canon though.Any future showrunner could easily mark of all kurtzman trek an alternate timeline. Starting right at khan. That time change basically changed everything.
The goal of the future is to preserve the past as perfectly as possible through recreation. Thus fans are like Elves, preserving middle earth as they remember it.I am one for the multiverse, but it still comes down to imaginative writing whichever way they go. Without it, it is just a bland stroll down memory lane, again and again and again.

That's alternate timeline not canon status.

Or...just watch what you like and ignore what you don't.Right. If we can't decanonize an alternate universe will serve just fine. Actually its probably preferable.
The cancellations will continue until morale improves.Oh yay. Another “I don’t like something and want it canceled” thread.
Film at 11.
(Edited to add: and by canceled I mean not aired. Obviously SFA has already been canceled.)
Look, I'm from Buenos Aires and I say we cancel them all!The cancellations will continue until morale improves.

Just a ruminating. It seems to me they can make some money by taking a tax credit.
One does not “make money” by writing something off. It simply lessens the tax burden. The money has been spent. And to be fair, the production of season two of SFA ended principally photography in February of this year. The taxes have already been paid on the majority of production for the fiscal year 2025. So it seems to me if they did choose to do that writing off would be minimal at best.
Uh yes they do. Lessening the tax burden is more money than theyll probably see from releasing it. Disney did it with willow and paramount should do it with SFA.
IRS tends to frown on excessive write offs.Uh yes they do. Lessening the tax burden is more money than theyll probably see from releasing it. Its decreasing their tax bill. Best if they group it with other under performing new shows no one's watching. Disney did it with willow and other shows. Saved hundreds of millions in taxes. Paramount can do it with SFA and any other new shows that are tanking.
That sure doesn’t read like ruminating anymore. You want them to not release SFA season 2. Why not?
And as others have pointed out, the Willow series was released in its entirety and then pulled from Disney+. I know. I watched the whole thing. It wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t awful either.
