Cubby Broccoli died 30 years ago today.
The similarities between Connery’s LXG character and Timothy Dalton’s character in Penny Dreadful (which I sort of regard as a live-action LXG but done right) always amused me a little. I can squint and see them as the same guy.Connery's Bond could never have retired to The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen because to that he'd need a bloody time machne

Even Casino Royale '67 has one thing to recommend it: Burt Bacharach's score performed by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. But otherwise, yeah, that's a film I never need to see again.I love James Bond. My favorite movie series of all time.
Love 'em all, even the bad ones - they're so good, especially when they're bad.*
*okay, maybe not Casino Royale '67. But that's about it.
So, inspired by this thread, and having heard this idea of it being a stealth Bond movie for years, I finally sat down and started The Rock.Yes, and it ties into YALT and how Ed Harris' villain would've been in Hong Kong at the same time. Basically, the theory is that Harris recognized Bond from the events of YALT and was testing him. Bond/Mason recognized this and lied to throw Harris off.

Depends on which version of the League you're talking about. Bond appears in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: The Black Dossier. Though I doubt he'll be asked to any reunions.Connery's Bond could never have retired to The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen because to that he'd need a bloody time machne

I fell on the floor multiple times with this skit. That song is so good, I always forget its from this movie. Its that good.
And the theme song is great, too. And its best use is, by far, in this SNL skit:

Just all-time SNL talent in that sketch. It's the 1927 Yankees of SNL there.I fell on the floor multiple times with this skit.
It's rather like hard-core rappers being force-fed MARY POPPINS music with a spoonful of sugar.
I'm partial to the Hartman/Carvey era, but I won't argue with success here.Just all-time SNL talent in that sketch. It's the 1927 Yankees of SNL there.

Murderer's Row--Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Earle Combs, Tony Lazzeri, Hall of Famers all. Don't sleep on Bob Meusel, either. They went 110-44, and swept the World Series in 4 games. (There were no playoff rounds.) In short, it was an age of giants.Would someone please explain the football reference? This is a Star Trek board.
