The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

  • Thread starter Rowdy Roddy McDowall
  • Start date
I think Broderik was a good choice as Gadget, and the initial composer hired (Marc Shaiman, score rejected) was good, but the failure was the script and how it was handled in general.

But no director or writers hired yet (just "attached") and they are already trying to hire Ferrelll, tells me they are gearing up for another CGI-fest failure.

Rumor has it they want to give a live-action Inspector Gadget another shot and this time it'll be Will Ferrell.

Seems to old for the role. Though that might be the point. He plays a older Inspector Gadget who is handing over the reigns to Penny who is now a young agent or something in her early 20's.

From the story:
“Snyder’s take on the material is being kept in the briefcase, but it is known that Snyder aims to make a more down and dirty movie, using plenty of practical effects or locations like he did when he remade Dawn of the Dead as his feature debut, than something more overtly slick, such as his later superhero hits, including Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

I still think DOTD (also a remake, obviously) is his best film, so if this is accurate, the movie might actually be worth watching.

I must admit I was horrified until I got to that bit.

Trouble is I just don't trust Snyder and I've hated more of his films than I've liked

It’s not a reboot or a remake, but it feels like Disney Channel has decided to evolve into an older version of The CW. Because when I saw the leaked trailer for the upcoming Disney Channel and Disney+ show Coven Academy, it had the same vibe as old The CW series.
