Nope. The number of Eps. and overall budget are decided by Paramount/Skydance.Is it likely a newer production company would make more than 10 episodes a season?
Some other Streamers like Disney and Amazon Prime do as low a 6 to 8 episodes a season.

You've watched thirty episodes so far, how come that wasn't too much?20 episodes is too long

Way too long.20 episodes is too long
20 episodes is too long
Yep. If a show is good, 20 episodes is more than warranted. I dare anyone to watch The West Wing or The Xfiles and say that 20 plus episodes a season was too many.lol lol back in the old days 20 episodes were most common in the tv universe and there was even some shows in the tv universe that had 21 to 30 episodes
there are althought still some shows that have 20 to 22 episodes in the tv universe
It was too many. Gave up on X Files because it felt very deliberate in its filler at times.I dare anyone to watch The West Wing or The Xfiles and say that 20 plus episodes a season was too many.
Only watch half the episodes then, that way everyone's happy.I have limited interest in 20 episode seasons.

Hell, The Honeymooners only ran for one season but it was 39 episodes. Every single one of them funny. That is almost four seasons in today's landscape.
I agree. Personally I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want more of a show that they like. Too each their own I guess. I'll always consider a season from streaming Trek inferior to most seasons from the network or syndication eras for the simple fact that there were far more episodes and much more pressure to deliver ASAP. Any great season from TOS, TNG or DS9 is better than an entire run of any streaming Trek series.Out of curiosity I decided to get the IMDb ratings for 40 TV series with seasons longer than 15 episodes and check which half of each season scored better on average, the first half or the second half.
Turns out that the two halves are basically the same, with the second half being just a little better. Longer seasons don't typically have a drop in quality and we're actually getting better episodes.
OK, who is going to riot with me until we get 20+ episode seasons back? The wait between seasons is terrible.
It was, and I say that as someone who really enjoyed The X Files.I dare anyone to watch The West Wing or The Xfiles and say that 20 plus episodes a season was too many.
Then there is no point in watching. You know the outcome and it will be inferior.I agree. Personally I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want more of a show that they like. What's that? Stop watching to send a message? Why, that's crazy, Mr. Brown? I have it in good authority from fans that the only way to change things is to watch it and bitch about it because we all know content producers read online comments.Sterling K. Brown had a pretty good explanation of why the streaming model isn't built to afford long seasons - the shift from advertising-supported to subscriber-supported:

I think those are a relic of the twentieth-century and old-fashioned broadcast TV. The whole business model has changed too much over the last few decades.
