If it's the pause between seasons, then let's go back to 20+ ep seasons and you can just take a break part way through.

lol lol back in the old days 20 episodes were most common in the tv universe and there was even some shows in the tv universe that had 21 to 30 episodes

Yep. If a show is good, 20 episodes is more than warranted. I dare anyone to watch The West Wing or The Xfiles and say that 20 plus episodes a season was too many.
Hell, The Honeymooners only ran for one season but it was 39 episodes. Every single one of them funny. That is almost four seasons in today's landscape.
