Starfleet Academy Tie-Ins

Probably less likely. Given the long lead time needed to produce new novels, the fact that the end of a parent series tends to reduce its tie-in sales, and the fact that there currently aren't any SFA novels in the pipeline (that I know of), would all make me skeptical of the likelihood of SFA novels in the immediate future.

I was thrilled when I found out that Libby had it, and then literally days later, they cancelled it and Libby pulled all of the issues.:censored:

Although the answer doesn't really make me happy, I do appreciate the response. Thank you.

And I would have liked to have read one that either of you wrote.

Same here.

I actually hope for more, but at the very least, I was hoping
that if the rumours were true, and the next season ends on a cliffhanger, and they aren't able to go back and shoot new scenes to provide some kind of resolution, that maybe we could get a novel that resolves the cliffhanger.

But I guess maybe their cheapest solution would be to just stick some text at the end of the episode to wrap it up. "Cadet Caleb Myr never returned home", or somesuch.

I guess we'll see how it shakes out. :sigh:

From the previews, it looks like it takes place in late Season 1, probably between 1.08 and 1.09

We do know SFA comics are happening, so I imagine IDW might handle any potential SFA post-finale content? After all, they have announced a post-Picard finale comic series set aboard the Enterprise G.

Would be funny if IDW does a middle-finger USS Miyazaki tie-in.

Don't forget this year's Picard novel, To Defy Fate, is also post-finale.

Technically it's set during the finale. IIRC, it's set during the one year gap between the finale's main story and the epilogue scene.

Yes, I know I'm splitting hairs.

How would it be a "middle-finger"? I already suggested in the comics thread that they should release an actual "Tales From the Frontier" title. Not exactly clear on how such a thing would be flipping off anyone?

Well, you're a Star Trek fan, so it just kinda follows! :techman:

Presumably, at the production for producing the ersatz comic in-house rather than commissioning IDW to make a real one they could release as a tie-in in the first place.

Do we know IDW weren't asked? I don't know what the standard lead time is for a comic, but in the latest issue of Power Fantasy, they said the comic release has beem paused until they have three issues in the can and they expect that to be EOY. Season 1 began filming in August 24, finished in Feb 25, so if we say 1x06 was filmed c. December 24, then the mock comic would have needed to be in the can before then, held for whoever knows how long (in the end a minimum of about 14 months) before it could be solicited let alone released.
