Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and the Novels

Today's episode written by Kirsten Beyer introduces
Omega-47 as "a synthetic variant of pure Omega with destructive capacity in the same apocalyptic range." That concept is lifted straight from Beyer's previous novel The Eternal Tide, where all Omega molecules are identified as imperfect fragments of the Omega force present at the Big Bang. Frankly, the Star Trek: Starfleet Academy episode dialogue makes no sense in isolation with only the Star Trek: Voyager episode dialogue.

I don't think that line was a reference to the novel, just saying that it wasn't exactly the same thing as the Omega molecule from Voyager -- presumably so the show would be free to give it different attributes if it served the story.

I have to admit, I was also in the camp of people who were disappointed that they basically ignored Sisko's promise to Kasidy, especially knowing the background as to why that scene was added, but that seems to be a minority opinion.

I dunno. Something that Jake says in the SFA episode made me think that Ben Sisko did drop in on his family in some way, at all the important events.

If Sisko's fate was an established historical fact, any cadet worth their salt would get on Space Wikipedia and learn the answer before even signing up for the class.

And some persnickety Wiki editor (from Section 31?) would keep reverting it to a previous version to maintain the status quo.

I can't remember, did Jake ever write and publish Anslem in the Novelverse?

In our timeline, "Anslem" was/will be published... as a blank notebook.

I was recently reading the old DS9 novel The Heart of the Warrior, and an interesting connection with SFA popped up, though I suspect it was probably entirely coincidental. There's a Jem'Hadar character in the novel named Thok.

The game, "Klingon Academy", also features the name Thok, but for a Klingon. Thok Mak was the younger brother of the Colonel Worf we saw during Kirk and McCoy's trial in ST VI (ie. TNG's Worf's grandfather).
