For All Mankind Trailer - Apple TV- SPOILER

Hi Bob!

I saw the news sometime while I was sleeping. Kind of forgot about it. Been a busy day with stuff happening. Does make me smile (considering the pain I am in), as I going to watch the trailer again.

One of the recurring characters is a high school graduate on Mars. Between him and Kelly's son, I hope this means one of the main focuses this season is how humans grow up on Mars and how that effects them both physically and psychologically. That was one of my favorite themes of Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy and since it seems like this show is going to be the closest we'll ever get to an adaptation to those books, I'm really looking forward to that particular story thread.

On the Krys Marshall front, I discovered this Deadline article (courtesy of Wikipedia) from last year that said that Krys Marshall was returning (Daniel Stern, too), so maybe there's still hope to see her this season, but perhaps not as a main cast member.

Yes, i look very much forward to see how Mars society will be different to Earth, especially if we now get true martian born generations now vs. those who still remember how it was on Earth.

Part of big appeal of The Expanse was to see how different societies were in the same solar system based on where they grew up ( i really should finish that show one day).

I just wish here in the UK that Dazzler entertainment still had the home video rights to FAM. I've got seasons 1-3 on Blu-Ray and would really like 4 and however many other seasons they get to make.

Did they actually release season 3 in the UK? I could never find a copy of that set... And I remember they promised season 4 as well.

But to be honest, I'd love a release with commentaries, extras, and all the shorts they did for FAM... Maybe we'll have to wait until the show ends before we get that.

imagine if there was another alternate alternate reality of for all mankind where there are supernatural beings among the mortals aka muggles aka regular humans on earth

Its a weird thing. Go into HMV or go on to Amazon and you'll find copies of seasons one & two but three was on there for but a short time. I picked up my copy of three from HMV I believe the day it came out which was in early October 2023.

Lots of their society will be the same as those on Earth. They will still be getting their tv shows, movies and music and books from Earth. Not to mention major corporations would arrive. So chances are that even on Mars you can go to McDonald's or Taco Bell. My guess is one of the big differences though would be sports. Earth sports would likely not be big on Mars and you would see the rise of sports that are developed in that environment. Also likely nobody is using cash or coin. Even more so than on Earth were people would still be using it.

Was thinking that for anything athletic they'd probably have to ban or limit (per team) the number of Earth-born because they'd have a physical advantage in the Martian gravity.

It will be soccer and basketball.

The new dynamic will be interesting to see. Sure, earth based companies will try to make inroads on Mars, a market is a market and better be early and keep your name there even if profits may be slim than lose out in the long run but i doubt fast food will be a priority on Mars for a while. Cost of transport from Earth to Mars for the ingredients would mean that a Burger or a Taco would have to cost hundreds of dollars to make a profit and Mars based hydroponics surely would only produce nutrient rich food by mandate/law ( at least i would - space and energy are precious on Mars and limited, so reserving a chunk of it for unhealthy junk food purposes might not be in the cards, at least if i had to say something on Mars  ).

Socially and politically Mars would also distance itself to create their own identity. Earth based entertainment will surely be a prime factor for a long while especially as you don't need to haul physical goods but can send the digital files via radio to Mars to be streamed. Even then i think as the Mars colony expands and gets into the tens of thousands of inhabitants Mars based entertainment ( literature as well as shows or even movies) might become a thing sooner or later, probably even supported by the Mars government to help solidify a Mars identity.

In any way, i hope some of these things will be shown in the new season at least in their early stages - significant changes might take decades.

This either looks like a prequel to The Expanse, or showing what life would be like on Mars in the Babylon 5 era.

Looks exciting.
