The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

I liked that movie but wasn't it based on a true story? How does one do a sequel?

It's based on a fictional novel and the ship is fictional too. The character in the book is George Krause, inspired by George P. Hunter, while the character in the movie is Ernest Krause.

Twas ever thus I guess. Hollywood has been doing this since the beginning.

Yes it's annoying, but sometimes it's amazing (The Thing)

Short of mass boycotts of such films I'm not sure it'll ever end.

Too many reboots, not enough guts or new ideas.
Carrie adaptation rights have been with MGM since the 1970s, and over the years they've made two sequels unrelated to the first film, and even a remake with Chloë Grace Moretz. Therefore, when Amazon bought MGM, they decided to adapt it for TV along with other MGM franchises. The Carrie TV series will be a miniseries.

I don't know about Rockford- the character was such a creature of the times (1970's). He might have to change too much for today and then it's not really Rockford so what's the point? Might as well just do "PI Guy"...
