The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Wow I remember that show. They're really digging around in the dirt for these old shows aren't they?

They tried to make it once before with Dermot Mulroney and Alan Tudyk but the network passed on the pilot.

Just wait until CBS remakes The Bear as a crime procedural about experts in restaurant-based murders.

The Bear should be about this bear

If you think like a CBS executive, anything can be a crime procedural. Two and a Half Men -- officer Charlie was cut in half by a serial killer but survived, returned to work and teamed up with two detectives, one who doesn't like him. They solve cases every week, while Charlie continues to search for the serial killer on the side.

It'll be like the new Perry Mason from a few years back. Nah, can't buy him as Rockford. Rockford could charm ya.
I was probably being a bit harsh there, with hindsight. And there is no point hiring anyone to just do a Garner impression; anyone playing the role will just bring their own version of the character. But so many classic tv characters were very much interlinked with the actor who played them - Bilko, Kojak, Rockford - that it’s just hard to imagine anyone else in the role.
