The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Ghostbusters fans are getting two animated Ghostbusters series on Netflix: a movie and a show. The first image from the show was released last year, and it's set to premiere in 2027. According to The InSneider, the movie has a new screenwriter.

Every property needs to be over-saturated, apparently. How much Star Trek do we need? A shitton, apparently.
How much Star Wars do we need? A shitton, apparently.
How much Jurassic Park do we need? A shitton, apparently.
How much Spider-Man do we need? A shitton, apparently.

My P-Shitton-K-E meter is getting up there.

No such word as overkill /s

Just like social media Netflix is one of those things I dropped and have not looked back despite missing some things I used to like.

Movie spending is out of control. That's why everything needs to be an IP or a franchise. They could just spend LESS, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

Not everything needs to be remembered.

How many things do we remember that did not continue?

Indiana Jones and Star Wars did pretty well with just three films for a long time. Extreme examples, yes, but there are others.

By strange coincidence both trilogies lasted 19 years.

Good story ideas are supposed to be rebooted and readapted. It was that way long before the movies were invented. Legacy Sequels are hot right now but the underlying concept is the same.
