Huh... Well, cool! I bet the writing will be orders of magnitude better than what the American version's been doing the past couple of decades.
They might go with a cartoony Wreck-it Ralph/Jumanji kind-of vibe inside the game with elements of Any Given Sunday or Replacements actual football thrown into the mix.

There was a very successful German adaptation back in the 90s, though they rather cancelled it than change out the cast. They did try again with an all-new cast about a decade later, but it didn't do nearly as well.
You see, why can't they update some more obscure 70s horror movies, like 'Race with the Devil', except, instead of Devil worshippers, make them MAGA or some other sort of fundamentalist group.
