"As a cadet sets out to solve an ancient Starfleet mystery, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and learns the value of forging her own path. Meanwhile, Nahla agrees to help a fellow chancellor with an elaborate alien ritual." - TrekCore.com

The one we've been waiting for!

What we know so far:
Tawny Newsome plays a part-Cardassian hybrid
Brooks gave them permission to use some kind of poetry recording
SAM gets permission for something from Jake (maybe Cirroc returns?)
We see their family lineage on a screen, and at least in the snippet they showed, Jake does not have a sibling
An orb will be opened, and it looks pretty cool

(spoiler code removed now)

Also in the first reviews:
Chiwetel Ejiofor performs a key voice-over
This episode will inspire some of the biggest online conversations in ages
It has "Marvel-style" surprise and a lot of eastereggs.

Tawnys character seems to be an Academy instructor but not a member of Starfleet, judging by her uniform. Apre-Burn Bajoran Militia uniform?

… the hybrid …
Are we completely certain she is one, though? I think it looks a bit like she’s supposed to have a Bajoran nose ridge, but only vaguely. And I don’t think she’s wearing the earring.

I wonder about the Cardassian makeup design. The “spoon” on the forehead looks way too high. Maybe just artistic license and a slight redesign or would there be another reason? I think this is how it would be on a classic Cardassian …

This is the episode I've been the most curious about and excited for. But I am less so after seeing the teaser. I hope there are DS9 actors in this episode, especially Avery Brooks. Otherwise, I would rather they leave Sisko's fate to another project. I hope they don't definitively answer the question unless we actually get Sisko.

I'll see how it goes-eventually (I don't have Paramount Plus at the moment)-but this story feels a bit unnecessary, and I don't see how it's tied into the Academy story. It makes me think of the "Unification III" episode on DISCO but tying that loose end was more connected to Burnham and her journey, and it was touching that she learned what became of her brother. Thus far, there is no personal connection to any of the Academy characters and DS9 that's evident. The closest might be the Jem'Hadar/Klingon, and that's just because the Jem'Hadar were DS9-specific.

I thought that nothing ever could be any worse than Discovery, and then the first few episodes of Starfleet Academy came in ... and it was even worse than I imagined.

Please keep your hands off DS9, don't ruin another Star Trek show that you don't know anything about!

I’ll be glad to eat my words, but I honestly don’t think there was ever any chance of Avery Brooks making a guest appearance in this one.

Not a personal one, but both Sisko and SAM were created to function as emissaries to linear / organic forms of life. I guess that’s the connection this episode will go for and what makes SAM interested in finding out about Sisko. :)

As someone who really didn’t like most of Discovery, I can say that I find Starfleet Academy much better and more enjoyable to watch.

How does that even work? How could they do anything on Starfleet Academy that would retroactively “ruin” a show from 30 years ago?

SAM investigating Sisko's disappearance would be equivalent to someone investigating whether Arthur of Brittany was murdered and dumped in the Seine (c. 1203)
A mystical alien orb would definitely help there. :D
