Yeah this is what's keeping me interested in it, personally I wouldn't say it feels entirely like a Star Trek series (yet), but it also doesn't feel like a cynical use of the franchise in the way the other recent shows sometimes have. So far it's just a sitcom with an unintrusive Star Trek skin, which it turns out makes for likeable viewing.I'm beginning to realize that one of the things I'm enjoying about Academy is that it isn't trying to reinvent the wheel. It isn't trying to be prestige TV like Discovery, it isn't overly reliant on backward-looking nostalgia and fan service like Picard, it isn't filled with forward-looking nostalgic gimmicks like Strange New Worlds. It's just trying to be Star Trek set at a school. And that's refreshing.
Unless he is ESL and has mistaken the American pronunciation of renewed as a separate wordThey said both. I understood renewed. Renude is not a word I've heard before.
Sisko, Tendi, and Dal would argue with that.It occurs to me that Ake is the first non-human (well non Homo sapiens sapiens) to headline a Star Trek show.
Tendi isn't the headliner. And Sisko is fully human on a genetic level, his mother was just possessed by a ProphetSisko, Tendi, and Dal would argue with that.
Dal is less human then Ake, so that bit of pedantry would cut worse the other way.And if we want to be pedantic, Dal is Human, he's an Augment.
I just rewatched the first 3 episodes just for a read on the vibe and nothing else. . It felt like Harry Potter meets X-Men. At least I got those vibes. Anyone agree?
Because that's a big difference. Declaring a second season after its premier shows that its doing well and that paramount has faith in the product. Ordering it before the first even comes out sounds like a contractual obligation.Semantics. He was asking if there was to be a season two, and he used the term renewed, so why should I bother in overcomplicating the answer?
It is already renewed for season 2, in fact they should be done filming in the next week or so

Season 2 is already locked. I have my doubts we will see a season 3 even if the show is somewhat successful. New people in charge and all that and them wanting to bring in their own people with their own vision of what to do with Trek. For it to get a season 3 I think it can't just be a modest hit. It has to be a massive hit.
