That's why we created the Exo-Comps.

Send them into those Tight Spaces.
So far we haven't seen an Exo-Comp in engineering yellow.

By the way, did anyone else notice that the Torothan prisoner shuttle set was a redress of the Starfleet shuttle interior?
Yup, it was kind of obvious, same with the cadet bedroom being a redress of the Strange New Worlds quarters.

Definitely noticed the quarters set redress and the 32c shuttle set redresses for multiple ships in the episode.

I will say tho that I do like the changes they made to the 32c shuttle for the Athena as I thought the interior design from DIS was a bit too sterile or 'executive' feeling as opposed to functional.

Are you guys sure? Because I don’t see the similarity. Not with Pike’s quarters, not with Spock’s and not with the generic “Training quarters”. In fact, the angle on the outer ship wall is the exact opposite, not to mention the windows looking completely different. And really, everything else.

And really, it wouldn’t make much sense to use the standing sets of another show that was still being filmed then for a set you’ll likely see pretty often on Starfleet Academy.

And what was the other ship that reused the shuttle set?

^ They don’t. Matthew Davies designed the sets for Starfleet Academy, while Jonathan Lee created the ones for Strange New Worlds. But yeah, I’m sure there’s overlap in their production teams. And obviously it’s a very similar design language.

But the same sets, only redressed? I think not.

I see what you mean there. It may just be the similarity in design styles and the use of strip lighting in both sets that makes them look very similar. Also, based on the shape of the window in the cadet dorms, it looks like they're located on the inner upward rim of the outer saucer ring, since I don't see anywhere else on the Athena that the windows are shaped like that.

As for the shuttle redress I simply meant 'multiple' as in 'more than one.' Including DIS, the 32c shuttle set has been seen in 3 designs: 1 in DIS and 2 in SFA.

The modular separator walls they use to segment the room do a good job of disguising it in places, but yes.

 But yes what? They are clearly different sets and not redresses of the same set. Point out one element that is the same, if you truly think that‘s the case.

They're not the same sets whatsoever. The production designers just shared some random echoes of the look of quarters and cabins on SNW. That's all. This is nothing new to Trek in any way.

As much as a TOS purist that I am, I don't think the existence of more Cheron undermines "...Last Battlefield". They were clearly a race that had made it off of their homeworld. So, it makes sense there would be some survivors.

Me, too. I had issues with the 2 episodes, but the "it undermines Battlefield" was not one of them.

It would make sense for there to be some survivors.

The 2009 movie has Spock Prime saying that Nero and his crew were "the last" remnants of the Romulan Empire after the supernova. Clearly they weren't, as both PIC and DSC demonstrated on repeated occasions.

But the Empire still existed, it just ended up reorganizing into a rump state with a new name and government. The Empire didn't just blink out of existence when Romulus and Remus were destroyed, any more than the Galactic Empire in Star Wars just ceased to be a thing after the Battle of Endor and deaths of both the Emperor and Darth Vader.

Exactly. And the Federation still honored its treaties with the old Romulan Star Empire with the new Romulan Free State, so it was clearly only a new government in name only.
