Well, I can't come up with many, so I wanted to know what everyone else is thinking. Generally they are of lower quality. But there are some better versions:
I prefer the 1978 remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" to the orignal 1956 version. Mostly because of the actors, I guess.
I also like the 2002 adaptation of Harris' "Red Dragon" more than its predecessor "Manhunter" (1986). Again, because of the superior actors (sorry, William Petersen) and generally higher production values.
Kind of an obvious example, but I like the new "Battlestar: Galactica" way more than its original version — and that's an understatement.
