I enjoyed this first episode.

It felt like a soap opera in space, rather than science fiction, but it was well executed.

I'll give the series a chance once School Spirits wraps up, so I'll have two series to binge watch.

Shout out to Paramount for throwing this on YouTube for free... but it was pretty bad. I gave it a 4 just because it was mostly coherent and Section 31 gave us a new floor for how bad "Trek" could be.

If it weren't for the geoblocking, the fact that anyone paying for paramount plus already wouldn't watch it on there and the piratical alternatives that offer it ad free you might have a point.

More likely the director just told someone in production to fill the background with aliens, they went down the list of "star trek" makeups, and picked ones they thought would be quick and easy to do not knowing anything about the actual race.

The same thing happened all the time with Alien Extra's in DS9/VOY/ENT.

It's just a fun easter egg meant to inspire discussion. It's no different to the think tank guy on Voyager saying the vidiians were cured or Vance mentioning survivors of the Iconian Empire in season 4 of Discovery. It's entirely possible there were some surviving Cheron's around who left their homeworld at some point during the 50,000 years bele was chasing lokai. Star Trek is about hope most of all and is more hopeful than the revelation that at least a segment of species hellbent on destroying itself, managed to rise above their hatred and begin a new life?

"It's not a plot hole, it's unexplored canon."

I had a wide range of crude things to say about her grooming, which ended with the phrase "just like Cruella De Vil!".

1. She can survive in space indefinitely, much better than that kid they sent on the hull.

2. She's technopathic. With Strong thoughts, she could have turned the virus off, or asked the bad guys ship to blow itself up, or made the Athena run despite the Virus.

3. She can teleport. Confining her is impossible. And if she does hand to hand combat with any one, she is taking hands for her collection.

4. Stealth. Yes she can turn invisible, but can she cloak the whole ship if the need is present?

5. She could be 50,000 years old, or older. Belle didn't say that he was 50,000 years old, that's just how long he had been chasing Lokai. Is she really a child?
