Anyone still build models?

Just finally got hold of a full set of these 1994 Jonny Quest resin figure models. I'd built Jonny in 2004, but never had the full set due to cost. I just recently got a half-price deal on them. Fused their bases together and cranked them out in a month:

It's been a long minute since I posted an update. I haven’t managed to get much done lately, with everyday life constantly getting in the way, but I was home on a snow day with my son and did some test fitting today. I couldn’t help but take a pic of this beast. It’s coming along.

I don't know if anyone else here did these but I miss Bburago die cast models.. I used to collect tons of them in the old days, they were mostly 1/18 scale die cast cars, usually sports or rally cars, sometimes sedans. They were sold as kits and you had to assemble them yourselves and add your own finishing touches if you wanted to add extra details, but the larger scale made that easier for those that could do that.

I usually just applied all the decals and built them stock as they were in the box and the results were still pleasing. Also they were made in Italy at the time but as the years went on production moved to China and the brand just didn't feel the same any more it was Bburago in name only. The builds became really basic after the change of manufacture.

I just wanted to say I miss those. Wish I had kept my collection.

Nearly at the end of my Lego Lamborghini Countach. Here's the build so far.

EDIT: She's finished

It's definitely a display piece and not a playset.

It's a really great model, but not meant to be handled or played with, doors open, engine cover opens, boot at the front opens. But it's not really what I'd call a solid model, it does feel like you have to handle it with care or it could break, Lots of sections of parts like the front body are in sections held to the bottom via lego clips, same for some of the angled pieces at the rear.

While it was a satisfying build I do have to wonder with Lego if they could have made the same model, but more efficiently with fewer pieces. Having said that I really do love the finished model. Also unlike a lot of new releases this year there are no stickers in this set and all the markings are printed.

One of the things I was thinking about....in the toy/model shared space.

Has anyone thought to have a model that was lights only, but a base that held a speaker with the stand rod doing double duty as a plug.

Buttons would be on the stand.

Pressing a phaser button sends a wireless signal to lights to flash--but the base emits the sound...whether the model is on the base or not.

Super lightweight models (fly able) with less spaghetti is the result--base being a controller too perhaps.

Lastly, I was wondering what a good TMP equivalent of a TOS nacelle spinner might look like.

I could see this just behind the nacelle grill

I do, though I haven't done a Trek one since I was a kid. I got back into it a few years ago with aircraft, then fell out of it through much of 2025 due to life eating me a little bit. That said, I came out of the holidays with the AMT 1:1000 Excelsior kit, so hopefully I can get it to look good.

If I trusted myself to figure out soldering, I'd light it, but that's never gonna happen.
