When the studio suits meddle in the production

I'm watching Snowpiercer and I looked at the Wikipedia entry for the making of the movie.
Harvey Weinstein wanted to cut over twenty minutes from the movie and add an opening/closing narration and a happy ending.
A disastrous test screening of his preferred cut meant that director Boon Joon-ho got the final say; however, Weinstein got his revenge by releasing the movie in only 356 theaters.

Weinstein destroyed a lot of movies by cutting them down to two hours so they could have more showings per day.

For some reason Stallone did it to himself once, completely butchering Cobra to get it down to 90 minutes so it could have more showings per day because Top Gun was owning the box office.

A writer friend recently asked AI for the title of one of his own stories.

The AI replied by offering the title of a story by a different author, that had once appeared in the same anthology as the first author's story.

That had to have been quite confusing. I've noticed that AI has issues when it comes to obscurity. I've noticed things the AI has stated that were blatantly wrong by conflating information. In one instance, I was searching for some game information, but because the game itself was quite obscure, it would bring up information on an unrelated game, characters, and situations that were not at all part of the game I was searching for.

didn't Weinstien want to cut Princess monoki, but Ghibli said HELL NO, after he butchered a previous release.

Many Many Many a movie that the suits got involved with at various times in the movie. Mostly for worse, but sometimes better.

Frank Herbert was right.

A lot of films have studio meddling, some smaller, some larger, some like re-making the whole film. Coincidentally, when I clicked on this thread, I was watching a video on various production issues with the Men in black films, which includes studio changes (a number of them: the one you shot tested poorly, make a new one, new ones tests way better).

Aren't there so different versions of Blade Runner because the studio forced so many changes on Ridley Scott when they were making it?

Yet another one that the Weinsteins "meddled with" (to put it mildly), when they made Wes Craven throw out 90% of what he had filmed for Cursed and start over with a new script and partially new cast. And even after that, they went back on their agreement for the film to be rated R, and had it cut to PG-13 against Craven's wishes.

The only upside to it is that they ended up losing a lot of money over the whole thing.
