The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

Everything went downhill once the invisible car was introduced. It became another movie entirely. Almost like it was studio mandated

Exec-It’s too boring. What if the car turned invisible and the villains lair was made of ice. The villain also wears a body armor that shoots force lightning. Bond cgi surfs on a ice roadsters door

I remember people complaining about Bond escaping in the ice roadsters and then having to go back into the ice castle. That’s movie cliche 101

I always saw the first hour in Cuba, Hong Kong and North Korea as the Connery homage, then London, Iceland and the DMZ as the Moore homage

TIL that Bob Anderson did the sword fights in Die Another Day.

Then I remembered that Bob Anderson did the sword fights for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. So today I remembered that Bob Anderson doesn't fix everything.

Bob Anderson's films include: Highlander, The Princess Bride, The Three Musketeers (1993), The Mask of Zorro, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. And also doubled David Prowse as Darth Vader. So basically almost all of my favorite sword fights ever that are not in The Mark of Zorro.

And MOONRAKER! He was also a stunt performer of From Russia with Love! (This is quite the rabbit hole.)

30 years ago this weekend.

Bond was back.

If I’m honest, and not being influenced by which ones I’m “supposed” to like best, GoldenEye is probably my second favorite Bond movie (surpassed only by The Living Daylights).

Pinch of salt time as Coming Soon quotes The Telegraph as tipping Callum Turner as a Bond contender. Seems based on very little to me, though he was pretty good as an ex-soldier in a tv show called The Capture and DC showed that 007 doesn’t have to be played by the traditional tall, dark and handsome sort of leading man.

Plus we can get Dua Lipa to do the title song...

And he's in his mid thirties, I do worry we're gonna get some 28 year old (again!)
