The Most Disliked Episode of DS9, Finals - 2025 Edition...

I hate pretty much everything in every thumbnail on YouTube. Do I win?
It's amazing how many videos I actively avoid due to just the vibe of a thumbnail. Plus anything with a word in capitals, anything that tells me what I didn't know, and anything now where it says the REAL reason for something.

A few simple rules:

• Never click on a link with the word “this.”

• Never click on a link with the word “you.”

• Never click on a link with the word “banned.”

• Never click on a link with selected words EMPHASIZED IN ALL CAPS.

• Never click on a link with an exclamation point.

• If there’s a red arrow or circle highlighting something and it’s not clear why that thing is significant, don’t click.

• If you’re clicking to get information that could have been included in the thumbnail or title, don’t click.

Sometimes a title and thumbnail respect you, give you as much information as they can in a title and thumbnail about the content of the video, and let you decide whether it interests you. The rest are designed to manipulate you. When the thumbnail and title are designed for manipulation, it’s likely the video is too. Avoid it. And use the “Don’t recommend channel” option on YouTube.

Sadly what you're describing is used by even reputable news sites now. The Independent is just a lot of clickbait now.
Yes, I’ve noticed. I have some good channels in my “Don’t recommend” list. I still watch those channels, but I don’t want their clickbait cluttering up my recommendations.
