You're describing years after the shark episode. (Except for the hair. That happened pretty much after the first or second season.) When Fonzie jumped the shark they hadn't even had the Mork episode yet. And they had only just spun off Laverne and Shirley.

Around the time before the shark the clothing and sets had long been changed. The sets changed by the 3rd season and the clothing later that season. By the 4th and 5th you can tell wardrobe was phoning it in..

I finally got around to watching this.

My thoughts, in no particular order:

Gamble/Vezda: Creepy and even more dangerous now
Skygowan: Pretty!! Definitely qualifies as a strange new world!!!!!!!! I just wish we had more time to study and learn their culture. I also felt that the whole futuristic Ley Lines travel was a little more built out.
Nonetheless, small nitpicks for an excellent episode.

The "Nexus" scenes were done exceptionally well; unlike Picard who was desperately figuring out how to escape to the "Real World", Batel was using this dream sequence to fortify herself for her eternal battle.

What is left unclear is if Pike remembers the "Nexus" as a dream, or memories or at all; although I expect he will retain some memory of it.

All in all, I give this a solid 10/10. A great ending for a less than stellar season.

I concur, it does look like fun, but will it have jumped the shark by that point?
Why are you asking a hypothetical question about when the show might "jump the shark?"

(A phrase which sucks, BTW, and should be cast into the abyss along with "iconic").

Are you suggesting that doing a puppet episode somehow constitutes a shark-jump?

The short answer is "No."

If you can do a story that closes with everyone as cartoon characters and make it good - and it was really really good (saying that as someone who doesn't give two jots about Lower Decks) - then you can potentially do anything.

It sounds most often as if this "jumping the shark" phrase is used to externalize the statement "Well, I don't like this anymore." So, just say that and let other folks appreciate it as they may.

It's a legitimate TV Trope "Jumping the Shark". You should read the definition.

It's more like hitting it's peak and everything after that will be lesser than it's previous highpoint(s) in the show.

It has nothing to do with disliking the show, I still love SNW; but at some point, there has to be a APEX to the show where it's at it's best, and the rest of the eps will be weaker than the Peak Point of the show.

Where that firmly is will only be really clear after the show finishes and we can evaluate the series as a whole.

But for many, the Muppet Episode is going to be their "Jumping the Shark" moment since it is a crossover many didn't expect but are really looking forward to.

How do you know?
It's the episode they put in the teaser trailer, the one they focused on.

For many, it will not.
=(

Then what, do they arm wrestle to settle the issue.
It's a subjective issue to each individual person issue. Everybody will figure that out on their own.

I know there are some who are real fans of Jim Henson's Muppets & Sesame Street, so this is a cross over they never expected to see happen
But since it's now guranteed to happen, many are really looking forward to it.

So this is their "Peak SNW" moment.

For some people, "Subspace Rhapsody" was a jump the shark episode.

It's a matter of perspective.
Exactly, it's all subjective as to where that point will be.
