My full thoughts on Secret Invasion:
Although I no longer rank things, I have to reiterate my belief that despite online assertions to the contrary, the show is objectively on par, qualitatively, with one of the MCU's most generally praised projects: Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The cast was phenomenal from top to bottom, and the story revisited thematic elements from both TWS and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier while also serving as a solid 'interquel' to Captain Marvel and the best use of Fury that we've gotten in the MCU.
The show also has to be lauded for quickly raising the stakes by killing off firsf Maria Hill and then Talos.
The introduction and inclusion of Super Skrulls also really worked, as did the choice of characters whose DNA and powers went into the SS formula since the inclusion of power-sets from the likes of Groot, Cull Obsidian, and Captain Marvel gave the MCU's Super Skrulls the ability to mimic the powers of the Fantastic Four without those characters actually being around, which was a nice touch.
In closing, I stand by and double down on two things that I either just said or have been saying:
1. This show absolutely shouldn't have been moved out of its proper Chronological placement between She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel
2. Notwithstanding the loud online complaining, this show is on par, qualitatively, with stuff like Captain: The Winter Soldier and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and is going to be something that I hope gets more directly followed up on in the future (although I'll still be happy with it even if that doesn't happen).
