How much TOS do you want in your SNW? - Yes.

It's half foreshadowing, half DS9 The Reckoning remake. Even feels like the end of the whole series, leading directly into TOS next. But there are 2 more seasons, so I guess Pike will lead the beginning of the 5 years...? The "grow old together" alternate timeline was just odd with its random cuts. Lame superpower fight between "epigenetic world savior" and "total evil", and on-the-nose TOS references. Sadly not much more

I'm kind of mixed on that episode. On one hand, I did like Vasda returning, but there wasn't really much there and it felt like an episode purely to write Marie out of the series. In a season finale, you kind of want to utilize the entire cast as best you can, right? I actually did like the alternate life scenes, as it kind of reminded me of the good parts of The Inner Light. However, they set up these aliens as powerful and threatening, but the episode itself was really laid back and "casual?"

I feel like I've been hard on this season so I will give it a 7, but I really wanted it to be an 8 or 9 for the final episode until next year.

Some of the plot getting to Batel's realization of her ultimate fate and her acceptance of it felt a tad bit rushed in my eyes. The episode almost calls out for another half hour.

It was a strange idea to have the Kirk/Spock/Ortegas scene in the Port Galley set. A little too casual of a setting for such a serious moment. That being said, "be gentle, Spock" had me rolling. Spirk lives, baby.

I got a little chuckle out of the dodgy CGI to matte in the Farragut's Captain behind Kirk while he was piloting. Must not have been able to get the actress back for this one.

In some ways, it felt a little like a potential series finale in case the fourth season pickup had been doubtful.

All-in-all, this one doesn't hit the low lows of the season, nor did it hit the highs. Can't really justify giving a middling installment more than a 7.

*Sigh*
I'm going to refrain from casting a numerical vote for this one because the odds were heavily stacked against me liking this one, because:

1.) It's a follow-up to my second least-favorite episode of the season.
2.) Eye-injuries (especially self-inflicted ones) squick me.
3.) Ancient "Evil, Evil from the Dawn of Tiiiiiiiiime" and imaginary future lives for protagonists have worn out their welcome with me due to overuse in a certain other long-running SF series referenced in this episode.

Too much crammed into one episode, more telling than showing. I’m not sure how Marie arrived at her great epiphany. The Marie and Pike scenes were touching, for all that, and I’m glad there was no cliff hanger. This isn’t an episode I’ll rewatch much.

I give it a 7.

I liked the "future flashes".

I thought Chapel looked way better with dark hair.

The insertion of Kirk into this show is getting annoying. Also the fact we see so few of the rest of the Enterprise crew. I know the show isn't focused on them, but it would add some liveliness.

Honestly, the Vezda stuff was kinda lame, especially since it didn't connect with anything we'd seen before, and still reminded of several things we'd seen before.

This season has seemed floundering for original ideas. Don't get me wrong, I was entertained, but it often still feels like a pastiche,

I liked Batel, but as Hemmer, she was a foil for an already established character and that's too bad. Maybe a different timeline has them on a starship together?

So, since McCoy and Chekov came later, all we need now is Sulu to show up, right?

There's still too much relationship plotlines in this series and not enough exploring. Feels like the plot often takes a backseat.

Bit of a ramble. Hope Season 4 is an improvement. Only have to wait almost a year...

This season reminded me alot of Picard season 2, where there was only two important episodes and a lot of junk thrown in. They could have done more to flesh out the Vezda subplot. It's disappointing that after this time of working within the new seasons demanded by streaming that the writers still struggle with storylines and character arcs.

Maybe if a) they had fewer OG series characters they wouldn't be hemmed in by what comes later, and b) if they'd only set this whole series in an alternate timeline they'd have more options.

And more time for something can contribute to laziness. Previous Trek writers, like all network shows, had to be quick on the draw every week because they had 24-26 episodes to produce.

This idea that Gorn eggs, Illyrian blood and a flower can turn you into an angelic god being came out of nowhere, arguably even worse than a Kelpien mutant destroying all dilithium in the galaxy
But total TOS. That series would come up with some weird plot twists that wouldn't work or be repeated in the later series, but SNW dips into the TOS weirdness bucket for handfuls and more often than not makes the weird work.

It was okay. Too much Prophets/Pah Wraiths for my liking. Didn’t really care for his love interest so her “death” didn’t really do anything for me.
I am shocked we didn’t see another TOS character. I was expecting it at the end.

I would've been able to suspend disbelief more if a Q had shown up and snapped its fingers.

Boring, lazy writing.
