Star Trek: Starfleet Scouts in development

Watching this is like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

It's hardly offensive and quite fun and makes me chuckle, sensibly.

ETA:

this post i saw on my social media seems appropriate:

I have not yet watched this, which of course makes me qualified to call this show a disappointment and betrayal of the Star Trek franchise. I am currently producing a YouTube video in which I angrily shout about how this show represents the downward spiral the Trek franchise has been taking the past few years with the requisite prayers to Our Lord and Savior Terry Matalas. ;)

It hurts watching that they apparently do have a CGI animation budget but use it on this. I think a series of short films covering the Romulan War (with voices of the Enterprise cast) would be far more interesting, and should follow the lead of the classic 2003 Clone Wars show by Genndy Tartakovsky (not the Filoni show which I'm sure Paramount has no budget for and got overindulgent with creator pet characters at the end--Ahsoka and Rex anyone?)
You're comparing apples and oranges here. This is a show aimed at preschoolers, so the motivations behind the making of it are totally different from a show for older viewers that actually understand what story and characters are.

Applying concepts like canon or any "serious" facets of storytelling to a show like this are way overthinking the point.

Yeah, this show is the equivalent of action figures.
Awesome, detailed, for collecting and display? :D

Trying to collect all the Star Trek things in these shorts:
  • The name
  • The uniforms the kids wear
  • The targ
  • The "Romulan rubber ducky"
  • The use of the TNG transporter noise.
Anything else I left out?
The horned dog is probably the species from Enemy Within

I could imagine that this is in-universe kids TV, like that odd tribble cereal ad in the Edward short trek. Hoping for a little more depth though, a new story, at least some minor character traits... maybe 10 eps later it'll be more interesting

Memory Alpha concurs, at least for the moment.

It's...

It'll probably be served up to kids clicking on YouTube content fed to them by the almighty algorithm. Everything about them screams clickbait.

If every episode is going to be like the first two where some asteroid must be destroyed with a object chosen on a wheel of fortune with at least one not working then I don't know how they're going to sustain that for 40 odd episodes. I swear even half the animation in the second episode was recycled from the first, very formulaic.

Considering it's supposed to be Star Trek you'd think it would be on some kind of spaceship at the very least. Probably overthinking this anyway.

In-universe the only you could probably make this work is if it's some kind of kiddie holodeck program or something.
